ANNA MAE AQUASH 16/THEFT OF THE BLACK HILLS/TARP MONEY/DONALD TRUMP

All excerpts are in italics and from THE UNQUIET GRAVE by Steve Hendricks.

Custer’s unprovoked and suicidal attack on the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho nations at the Greasy Grass (Little Bighorn to the white man) was the climax of the campaign. The anticlimax was America’s revenge. So ruthless was the reprisal that the Indian holdouts withered in months.

Even after the government withheld food and threatened to take all of the land nine out of ten men refused to sign the Black Hills over. Not to worry Congress said one in ten was enough…

and voted theft into law in 1877.

The Lakotas were not long in suing for their land…..Finally in 1975, a federal appeals court proclaimed the obvious:” a more ripe and rank case of dishonorable dealing will never, in all probability, be found in our history.” But although the Supreme Court did not disagree, neither did it return an acre. In 1980, the high court ordered the Lakotas to settle all their land claims, for the Black Hills and elsewhere, for $106 million. the hills alone had yielded $4 billion in minerals and timber and billions untold in tourism and real estate. The Indians refused to receive the settlement. Today the money sits in escrow, steadily approaching $1 billion, but the poorest of America’s poor want nothing of it.

Wow and to think there are people who believe that whites as a whole aren’t racist…here’s the break down of Tarp money.

Of course those same people would deny that there is anything called global racism (courtesy of Mark Thompson on Sirius Left)….for instance Great Britain which is a small bit of Europe  controlled the world for quite some time (Some think they still do)….The sun never sets on the British Empire. Maybe if people can consider the abuses of another country they will begin to see their own country’s abuses in the same light. There is no denying that the luxuries we enjoy to day are from the abuses of  minorities. Oh but I’m sure  those whites who run wall street and those companies would never ever stereotype an Indian.

And just one more thing why do Indians discriminate against Donald Trump?

Not another night without sleep!!!

ANNA MAE AQUASH 15/AIM/TRAIL OF BROKEN TREATIES/BLACK HILLS MINING/SLAUGHTER OF BUFFALO

All excerpts are in italics and are from THE UNQUIET GRAVE by Steve Hendricks.

Aggghhhh! I had to work two j0bs and sit on a conference call….no rest for the wicked!!! This one might be very short.

So AIM was on a roll and turned their energies into what they called the Trail of Broken Treaties.

It was a long journey, the westernmost caravans starting weeks before the rendezvous in Washington on November 1, 1972.

Most caravans stopped in Minneapolis/St. Paul at the AIM headquarters where the Twenty Points were drafted.

The Points called on the United States to restore its several hundred broken treaties with Indian nations. At the time the treaties were signed, the government guaranteed them for all time- “as long as the rivers shall run and the grass shall grow” in the most common phrase-but Congress annulled most of the provisions a few years after signing them, and the Supreme Court approved the annulments.

In 1868 America guaranteed the Lakotas sovereign title to half of western South Dakota and a large share of four other states, thenceforth and for all time to be known as the Great Sioux Reserve. Six years later, Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer was ordered into the Lakota’s sacred Black Hills, in breach of treaty, and found gold. Envoys from Washington hastened west, first to barter for and then, that failing, to demand the Lakotas give up their land. The Lakotas were not in the best shape to refuse: the great bison herds, source for their food and shelter had been famously slaughtered, and the rations guaranteed by treaty in return for the land already ceded were always short.

OK I got off track thinking about those bison/buffalo and here is a link to a great science blog called Chaotic Utopia that tells a readable history of the buffalo.

Pile of buffalo bones.

Pile of buffalo bones.

Wonder what the pile of cow bones is every single day to feed our population.

Never mind the gold mines here is a blog and photo gallery of uranium mines called Uranium Mine Photos some of the photos are repetitive just click on the forward button on the gallery to make them go faster.

Damn I swore I would go to bed early…

ANNA MAE 14/AIM/RAYMOND YELLOW THUNDER

All excerpts are in italics and  from THE UNQUIET GRAVE by Steve Hendricks.

Here is a link that found its way to my blog NUCLEAR AND INDIGENOUS ITEMS OF INTEREST! If this were not the Anna Mae post I would be tempted to go on a rant about Yucca Mountain and the idiocy of the state of Nevada, Vegas and water. But it has been a lovely day and the blog is not taking up as much of my time.

I will not begin capitalizing white. But here is a poem that Pudgy Indian wrote he capitalizes white!! He even mentions Monica Charles’ Makah whale battle!!!

Fuck You Whitey (Freestyle)

Whitey is always
telling us Indians
what we can and cannot do.

Apartheid is here in the states
we call them reservations
ghettos
the black neighborhoods.

Apartheid has a name
and has whitey dominating
all faces of our world.

And whitey Loves telling
the Makah they can’t whale
and Love to remind us
that they are the killers of our folks
they are our dominators
and they have every right
to tell us what we can an cannot do
because we lost the war

Doesn’t matter if you’re a peckerwood
of the lefty persuasion
vegan non-meat eating
alleged peaceful
but never peaceful
know it all
holier than thou
force of the peckerwood…
it doesn’t matter
if you are a right wing
war mongering
never do your own killing
right wing republican
in DC
taking it all from everyone else
in the world
to fill vast bank accounts…
you all
are telling us Red Niggers
what we can and cannot do.

(Oops! I just noticed that he only capitalizes black and white when it’s in the title or the beginning of a sentence!! Ssorry….)

You can read the rest here!! It is very long but worth reading. I love Pudgy Indian and just discovered his wife’s blog Of Death and Conscience: She Who Watches another interesting blog….I really need to put up links on my blogroll!

But on to way more important things…..

AIM..got it’s start policing the Minneapolis police, especially in the bars that catered to the Midwestern Indians…

..the police tended to arrest every Native in sight, guilt or innocence be damned. Often the Indians were beaten ruthlessly. AIM often arrived before the cops. they told Indians who were being arrested of their rights, and they photographed the police at work. They were thanked with blackjacks to the head, arrests, and indictments for “interfering” with the laws. The AIMers persisted. They held public hearings about the abuse. They published their photographs…AIM  was lionized.

AIM started to expand into other services:

Finding decent housing and jobs for urban Indians,

founding “survival schools” for Indian children who had left or been rejected by white (that there Steve Hendricks he don’t capitalize white either!!!) schools.

After Raymond Yellow Thunder was killed, his relatives asked AIM to come……Over three days, 1,400 Indians from fourscore tribes descended noisily on the town. The protesters were led by Dennis Banks and Russel Means.

In Gordon, Banks and Means convened a people’s grand jury to hear grievances. Foremost of these were alleged rapes of Indian girls by white policemen and alleged swindlings by white storekeepers. AIM threatened to boycott the town,, and the Oglala Sioux Tribe, till then not prone to activism, announced tthat it would drain its accounts from Gordon’s banks.

AIM did…secure a second autopsy of Yellow Thunder, which confirmed the findings of the first autopsy.

During the protests in Gordon, AIM asked federal prosecutors to bolster the tepid state indictments with federal civil rights charges, as was sometimes done in the South when local official treated lynchers lightly. But the Department of Justice demurred (what a surprise) and three months after AIM left Gordon, Yellow Thunder’s killers were tried in state court.

Charges against the lone female defendant, Jeanette Thompson (glad she is not my mother!),had been dropped.

Bernard Ludder, had pleaded to kidnapping (for which he was fined $250) and turned on his friends.

Melvin and Leslie Hare and Robert Bayliss were convicted and given sentences of two, six, and four years respectively.(Once again glad none of the above are my parents!)

They served an unknown fraction of the sentences. I wonder why it is unknown isn’t that public information??

Every time I say I will be back tomorrow something comes up!

LAKEVIEW LOCKERS PURVEYERS OF JERKY AND OTHER QUALITY MEAT

I must confess that one of relatives works for this fine establishment on a part-time basis. This in no way effects my opinion….this particular relative has another part-time job at an establishment where the food is not worth mentioning.

LAKEVIEW LOCKERS

LAKEVIEW LOCKERS

They do have excellent service and when I asked to try the Teriyaki Sticks they gladly opened a package for me to sample. It was so good I bought a package and some Glazed Jerky and Peppered Jerky. The Peppered Jerky is my favorite but I love pepper!!! The Glazed Jerky is excellent also it has an entirely different texture. The flavor is sweet and savory… but not too sweet. They do a great job with getting the flavors right. I must say they do a better job than Taylors Sausage with getting the balance of the ingredients just right. The Teriyaki Sticks were great too!!! I’m not a big meat stick sort of person but it was a great addition to my meat snack collection during my Lakeview stay.

THE MAGNET THE LAKEVIEW LOCKERS GAVE TO ME

THE MAGNET THE LAKEVIEW LOCKERS GAVE TO ME

I have not purchased any of their fresh meats….yet. But they gave me a brochure all of their meat is natural no antibiotics and no steroids. That is basically the only kind of meat I purchase…. raised by ranchers who aren’t fucking up the cows and the land….I don’t mind paying the extra money!!!

Here is the brochure they gave me about the ranchers who raise the beef.

THE BROCHURE IS A TRIFOLD ON BOTH SIDES

THE BROCHURE IS A TRIFOLD

THE OTHER SIDE

THE OTHER SIDE

So if you are ever driving through Lakeview, Oregon or staying there for a spell  THE LAKEVIEW LOCKERS is a must stop! The help is friendly and they also have quite a selection of gourmet cheeses, beer, wine, fresh eggs, pasta and baked goodies!!

ANNA MAE AQUASH 13/A BIT OF AIM HISTORY/ALCATRAZ

All excerpts are in italics and from THE UNQUIET GRAVE by Steve Hendricks.

For those you who want to read an interesting racial discussion check out the comments about my last installment Anna Mae 12 on alt.native . Funny how different people have different interpretations…I am going to dedicate an entire page to the subject since some of you are dismayed that so many of my posts are written about Indians and racism. The short answer is that it is on my mind a lot.

The reason I do not capitalize white is because common sense tells me that white is not a race …when I call myself Portuguese I capitalize it as it is a specific race….at any rate I looked it up  and here is an excellent capitalization link from Carnegie Mellon. Just click on the word race and it will jump to that section. One of my finest traits is that I never think I am write and  well into my forties I learn so much every single day….Some days I even get to learn that I am right!!

Indians took longer than blacks and other minorities to mobilize in part because they were more thoroughly oppressed and in part because their population was tiny and diffuse. Scattered thinly across the West and all but vanished in most of the East, Indians totaled less than 1 percent of the American population and by any measure  were the poorest, most diseased, and worst educated race in America.

In 1969 Indians occupied Alcatraz (too funny!). Citing laws that required surplus federal land to be given to Indians, the occupiers demanded the island be reborn as an Indian educational center. Alcatraz, they wrote, was ideal for Indian use, ” as determined by the white man’s own standards” because.

It is isolated from modern facilities, and without adequate means of transportation.

It has no fresh running water.

It has inadequate sanitation facilities.

There are no oil or mineral rights.

There is no industry and so unemployment is very great.

There are no health care facilities.

The soil is rocky and nonproductive, and the land does not support game.

There are no educational facilities.

The population has always exceeded the land base.

The population has always been held  as prisoners and kept dependent on others.

They held the rock for eighteen months.

STEW MAGNUSON COMMENTS ON RAYMOND YELLOW THUNDER

I made the mistake of referring to his book as a story he is giving a lecture I have added a couple of  links to his comments click on the red highlights.

Stew Magnuson:

Just wanted to make a clarification. My “story” referred to here is an entire book. “The Death of Raymond Yellow Thunder: And Other True Stories from the Nebraska-Pine Ridge Border Towns.” It gives a complete account of the case including the AIM march on Gordon, and the trial of the perpetrators in Alliance, Nebraska as well as interviews with Raymond’s relatives.
Anyone in the area can hear me give a lecture about the case at Chadron State College on Tuesday, April 7 at 7 p.n. in the Student Union. It’s free and open to the public.

He also has a MySpace page for those of you who MySpace..way more interesting than I am.

ANNA MAE AQUASH 12/RAYMOND YELLOW THUNDER CONTINUED.

All excerpts are in italics and are from THE UNQUIET GRAVE by Steve Hendricks.

As I said in the previous post I thought I could move the story of Anna Mae on a little faster but the way that Steve Hendricks intertwines others to tell the story of Anna Mae…I cannot skip over the heart breaking story of Raymond Yellow Thunder (if you click on the link it brings up a story about Raymond written by Stew Magnuson click until to page 11 and there is a picture of Raymond Yellow Thunder. I think it is good to see a photo of the person. Especially for whites whose tendency will be to conjur up an image of a drunken Indian lying on the street asking to be beaten up. As you can see he is a human being with what looks to be a sense of humor while not being quite  at ease having his picture taken.)

Dr. Brown did not claim that exposure was the chief cause of death. Yellow Thunder died, he said, from a massive subdural hematoma-a hemorrhaged pond of blood-that covered the entire right side of his brain. the hemorrhage was caused by a blow to the forehead by “some instrument.” Brown also recorded several bruises and lacerations on Yellow Thunder’s head, on his right side, and on his right leg. The wound where Yellow Thunder had been struck on the forehead was visible, but the pond of blood beneath the skin was not. Suspicion was cast on Brown’s autopsy when Yellow thunder’s family asked to see the body and was denied until a mortician had touched it up Rumors spread that the authorities had something to hide…(that denial of letting the family see the body would never have happened if they were white!)

The county attorney said he pressed charges right away…Yellow Thunder’s family said he dragged his feet.

The charges…were not to the Indians’ liking: false imprisonment and manslaughter in the second degree.

The family begged the government of the Oglala Sioux Tribe to intervene, but the tribe did little.

The charges…were not to Indian’s liking: false imprisonment and manslaughter in the second degree, Nor was the bail: $6,250 a head. Indians said, rightly, that had Yellow Thunder been white and his attackers red, a murder charge would have been brought, the bail would have been beyond paying, and County Attorney Mike Smith would not have been calling the killing a “cruel practical joke” and the killers “pranksters.”

AIM will get involved tomorrow….

ANNA MAE AQUASH 11/ THE DEATH OF RAYMOND YELLOW THUNDER

All excerpts are in italics and are from THE UNQUIET GRAVE by Steve Hendricks.

When Steve Hendricks wrote THE UNQUIET GRAVE  he told the story of Anna Mae through many other stories. The next chapter begins with a story that is apparently all too familiar in Indian country. The killing of an Indian by white men whose sentences amount to…you’ll have to wait.

I thought I could move the Anna Mae story  a lot faster but with people like Raymond Yellow Thunder….his story deserves to be heard.

On February 12, 1972 four men and one woman went drove around until they came across Raymond Yellow Thunder, an Oglala ranch hand of middle age, a kindly but no particularly prosperous soul who had gone to Gordon to drink off a midwinter workweek. The four men stepped form the car and took turns beating him, for how hard or how long agin is not clear. then they stripped him from the belt down, stuffed him into the trunk of the car, and drove around town for a couple of hours.

Later they hauled him from the trunk, and shoved him …half naked and bloody in a Legion Hall. The legionnaires later convincingly said that several people rushed to Yellow Thunder’s aid, one man tugging Yellow Thunder’s shirt down over his loins while others asked if he needed help. Yellow thunder said he had had enough help form the whites of Gordon, thanks, and went out into the winter night.

If anyone at the Legion Hall saw a need to call the police after the bruised, bloody, pantless, and bootless Indian walked out into the frozen night, it is not recorded.

His attackers(I wonder if they endorsed AMERICAN INDIAN MAFIA) find him again. they shoved him back in the trunk of their car- whether beating him further is not known-drove him around some more, and finally let him go at a Laundromat. They did leave his clothes.

Yellow Thunder shuffled to the city jail, where Deputy Sheriff John Paul…took in the wanderer.

Deputy Paul (I wonder if he endorsed AMERICAN INDIAN MAFIA too) later said that by the time Yellow Thunder arrived, he had heard about the incident at the Legion Hall. Yellow Thunder told Paul he was the victim. Paul said he noticed no injuries to Yellow Thunder beyond a scratch on the cheek and some bruises on his head.

He did not…

call a doctor.

..take a statement about the beating and kidnapping.

…ask his colleagues on patrol to find the assailants.

At seven in the morning he awoke and left Paul’s care. By now he was staggering, but still the deputy did not call a doctor.

Later George Ghost Dog (an acquaintance) saw him in the cab of a pickup truck in a used-car lot. Ghost Dog said Yellow Thunder had a fat lip and a bloodied face. He asked Yellow Thunder if he was all right. Yes, Yellow Thunder said, he would make it.

A week later he was found, still in the cab, stiffly frozen.

To you know which white friend of mine you are. Consider just for a few minutes what it would be like to walk in those shoes…That you could get targeted just for your race on your next night out on the town…that this is not something that happens once every five years…but every hour of everyday when you encounter white people….the idea that every Indian can get an education and move to Northern Virginia or someplace  that is equally racially tolerant is not realistic. While a handful of guitar playing, painting, jewelry making Indians that whites embrace would be tolerated….I can assure you that Fairfax County Police Officers would be quick to target American Indians should they start migrating in large numbers. Just as they do blacks. The reason Indians from India, Middle Easterners, and Asians are not targeted as much is because they have tight communities and a shit load of money. Lawyers and doctors in every family. Even then I would love to see statistics on traffic violations broken down by race.

Furthermore I think that they are also trying to preserve what little culture they have left after we destroyed it…It might be something if the Capitalist way of whites was a success but as is obvious we haven’t had the land but a few hundred years and have managed to fuck it up almost completely.

Sorry I called you Rush Limbaugh but at least you do not carry the shame of having a parent who voted for George Bush twice and then Sarah Palin…Thank God I don’t have children to carry on that burden!!!

NOBLE SAVAGE AND INDIAN MASCOT BY LEANNE HOWE

I have been reading  a lot lately about the issue of Indian mascots and how much they hurt Native Americans. The Poet Leanne Howe has several poems from her book EVIDENCE OF RED on the subject of what she calls the Noble Savage (the  white stereotype of the male Indian) and the Indian Mascot (the white cartoon characterization). Hard to believe that in 2009 we are still having the discussion/argument about the appropriateness of this type of stereo typing…

There is a website called AMERICAN INDIAN SPORTS TEAM MASCOTS it has a lot of information on the subject. If you scroll down there is an issue of the Dartmouth Review that has the   NATIVES ARE GETTING RESTLESS. That is what my Dad used to say to me when my stereo was too loud. He would knock on my bedroom door and all he would say was THE NATIVES ARE GETTING RESTLESS…translation TURN THE VOLUME DOWN. That was it…you didn’t argue with my Dad. I always imagined Zulu warriors pounding on drums to be behind that phrase…not that it matters. I just spent a half hour looking up the origin of the phrase but could not find it. That was my Dad’s way of telling me something without a confrontation and a bit of dry humor…it worked because I usually listened. When I had on too much make up all he would say was PAINTED LADY IN A BOTTLE OF WINE. I think that was a song.

But getting back Leanne Howe’s poems here are some excerpts that are heartbreaking, humorous and horrifying all rolled into one.

From MY NAME IS NOBLE SAVAGE

How many wounds do you hope I carry?

My name is Noble Savage

Wanna rent me for a day?

Can you feel me coming for you?

My name is Noble Savage

You killed me

In order to bring me back to life

As your pet, a mascot

A man.

Since I’m your invention

Everything I say comes true…

From DISNEY’S POCAHONTAS LONGS FOR NOBLE SAVAGE

When you find me.

I’ll be your pool of DNA

A carrier of a million fiery red eggs

where you may plant

longing that I will trade my life for

each and every time you enter me…

Leanne Howe has several other poems on the subject

NOBLE SAVAGE CONFRONTS INDIAN MASCOT

NOBLE SAVAGE CONTEMPLATES HIS FATE

INDIAN MASCOT JOINS THE VILLAGE PEOPLE

And from INDIAN MASCOT ENCOUNTERS PREJUDICE (FROM REAL INDIANS)

My own people hate me.

When the Red woman and her child see me.

They weep.

And I weep, too.

“He’s white,” the Indians, cry. “He’s a bestial impersonator.”

but they throw rotten apples…

He always defends the weak…

MONICA CHARLES WRITES ABOUT ANNA MAE AQUASH

I was in the middle of writing my next post but keep getting interrupted my others and myself!!

This is a post written by Monica Charles and gives her view on what happened to Anna Mae Aquash. Monica Charles was actually at the occupation of Wounded Knee and has been living with the aftermath ever since. She is  dedicated to getting the truth out. She wakes up every morning and makes the conscious decision to help her people in a variety of ways instead of what the majority of us living in the United States do which is little to nothing.

Here is her post:

Classic Cointelpro
(The story of Anna Mae Aquash
and
Arlo Looking Cloud)

I don’t have words to name the anguish I have carried for Anna Mae, Arlo and John. Thirty years ago hope was a luminous butterfly breaking out of her cocoon in my heart. The days of the old movement, the 1970’s brought out the best in us, and the worst.

We flew to the sun and stole light at the occupation of Wounded Knee 1973 as our rag tag band of Indians yanked our history and destiny from the hands of the United States government. Wounded Knee had been synonymous with the death of our way of life. Close your eyes and you can see Big Foot and his people, frozen where they fell, shot by American soldiers.

Open your eyes and there we are, long haired, armed, drawing a line in the snow with our lives. Armed Indian men from across the United States and Canada returned the US Government’s fire. Indian women cooked cleaned and did all the work to keep the camp going. The heart and backbone has always been Woman.

Most of us walked in and out of Wounded Knee through the government forces that surrounded us. We swore an oath to stand for our People. We staked ourselves out for those who were felled by alcohol and drugs. We raised our voices for those who were silenced by corrupt Tribal Councils supported by the federal government.

Pine Ridge chairman Dick Wilson was every corrupt Tribal politician that dragged us into the sludge and left us trapped. The Lakota at Pine Ridge have born the burden of the history of all Indian People. In this the most affluent country that the world has seen, Pine Ridge is the poorest county in the country.

It is impossible for outsiders to understand why we choose to live on our reservations. We could make a better living in the big cities. We would be free from oppression of corrupt Tribal chairmen. It is the land herself that holds us.

It doesn’t matter who has legal title to our land. It is ours. We are responsible for it. We carry it in our hearts. Maybe that’s why Indian hearts are so big.

We feel guilt when we leave it. The borders press against our ribs until we return home. Our land is us and we are our land in a way that the white man will never understand. Reservations were created by Treaties to be our prisons. We were supposed to die there, out of sight, out of mind.

For many years our reservations suffocated us. We grew stagnant. Alcohol and drugs numbed our bodies and minds and spirits. We forgot. We forgot what happened to us and who we are.

Those who should have belonged to the warrior societies turned on each other and forgot to protect The People. The oppressors stole power from our men. In those unspeakable times the men turned and stole power from those in their care, the babies, the old ones, the women. Violence and sexual abuse became authority in our sick defeated state.

Those who should have been our Clan Mothers and Lady Chiefs had their sacredness destroyed. Many forgot it is they that choose the future of our people. They were unable to hold their heads or the men’s above water. Our hearts and backbones collapsed under the burden of poverty and little hope.

It was into this darkness that the Movement reached its hand. It wasn’t Dennis and Russell or Vernon and Clyde. It was the idea of freedom. It was the worm turning into a butterfly. It was the Sasquatch cry in the midnight woods. It was the part of us that never died or surrendered.

The call from the Lakota to come back to Wounded Knee also came from deep within our hearts, the collective soul of our people. It’s time to wake up. The long sleep is over. Your People need you. Hit the ground running.

We came from the four directions. We brought our broken Treaties and our broken hearts to be healed. The gun fire at Wounded Knee in the 1800’s signaled the end of our freedom. The gun fire at Wounded Knee 1973 signaled our awakening.

We made special clothes and Ghost Danced in the open. This time the guns didn’t cut us down. The Creator hadn’t forgotten us. He was just waiting for us to find our way back home.

We also packed in with us the dysfunctional learned behaviors that were destroying us. The cream and the dregs floated to the top.

Men believed the Hollywood version of the Indian warrior. Women were treated badly. They thought we were there to serve them not The People.

There were stars that shown. I don’t mean the media stars. There were those born of earth whose goodness burned from their hearts. Pedro Bissonette and Anna Mae Aquash were such lights. They symbolized the best in us.

Pedro would walk out of Wounded Knee at first light and spend the day negotiating with the government. He fasted in solidarity with us. We were starving at that point. We ate one meal a day. The old lady cooks saved a plate for him when he walked back in at night. He was quiet and humble, a Traditional leader. He was assassinated after the occupation was over.

Anna Mae was a warrior woman. She helped make quilts, packed a gun on patrol and could talk Treaties and strategy. She was assassinated amid jealousy and rumors. She died alone and abandoned. She represented the best of Woman and the worst that could happen to us.

The facts of her murder are cloaked in intrigue and stink of an FBI conspiracy. The description of the body found at Wanblee didn’t fit Anna Mae. She was ten years younger and four inches taller than Anna Mae. The coroner said she had been dead about ten days.

ARLO’S TRIAL

The testimony at Arlo’s trial is filled with confusion. The odyssey that took Anna Mae from Denver to Rapid City began with a call to Angie Begay Janis. She testified that Thelma Rios called her with instructions to bring Anna Mae to Rapid City. Angie then went to Troy Lynn Yellow Wood’s house to deliver the message.

According to Janis’ own testimony she was at the meeting at Yellow Woods house to decide if Anna Mae was an informer. If that meeting actually did happen, was her fate decided there? Incidents appear in this story like magic to support the government’s contentions. Sometimes these incidents make absolutely no sense.

This was a most unfortunate time for Arlo to show up at this house. He was looking for a friend to go have a beer with him. He says Theda Clark asked him to drive them to Rapid City. A request from an older woman would have equated a command.

Angie stated that Arlo was at the meeting. That is doubtful. A meeting of that magnitude would not have included the rank and file. It would have consisted of those considered to be leaders.

Janis stated that Anna Mae was brought from the basement tied to a board. Arlo’s attorney Tim Rensch reminded Janis that she had not mentioned Anna Mae’s hands being tied or being tied to a board in her grand jury testimony. He asked if she had spoken with BIA cop Robert Eccoffey about this.

Simply driving Anna Mae to Rapid City would not be a federal offense. Troy Lynn Yellow Wood testified that Anna Mae did not want to go, but went of her own volition. A charge of kidnapping was needed so the myth of Anna Mae being carried out of the house tied to a board was fashioned.

Yellow Wood stated that she tried to stop them from taking Anna Mae from her house but was ordered by her aunt Theda Clark to mind her own business. Theda was apparently a domineering mean older woman. Few would dare cross her.

When Arlo, John and Theda left with Anna Mae, Yellow Wood called the police. Angie Janis took the phone from her and hung it up. Janis told Yellow Wood to stay out of this.

Although Janis testified under oath that Anna Mae’s hands had been tied and then she was tied to a board that did not alarm Angie enough to call the police herself. She still stated that she didn’t think Anna Mae was in any danger.

If Angie Janis did not tell this story when she testified before the grand jury, then when and why did she invent it? It would seem that this was created to be the lynch pin for the charge of kidnapping.

Janis could not remember the color of the rope or the board. Rensch also asked Amiotte, the rancher that found the Wanblee body, if there was a rope near the body. Amiotte didn’t see a rope. We have another mystery in this story. Where did the rope and board go?

Next we move to the famous alleged interrogation at the Wounded Knee Legal Defense/Offense Committee office. Candy Hamilton testified that she was waiting at WKLDOC for a ride to Sioux Falls to testify at Russell Means trial. Anna Mae was in a room with a group of people.

Anna Mae came out of the room to get a cup of coffee. She talked a while with Candy. There were phones and doors in the office. Anna Mae didn’t try to call for help. Neither did she try to run.

Hamilton states that she told Anna Mae that Oglalla could be a really safe place for her to stay. Candy was offering asylum. She had heard rumors of Aquash being an informer. Candy wanted to let Anna Mae know that she would be protected in Oglalla if she wanted it. She didn’t. The two women spoke for another minute then Anna Mae returned to the room. Aquash had many opportunities to escape if she was being held prisoner.

Hamilton couldn’t remember if it was before or after they heard that Anna Mae had been killed when she spoke to Madonna Gilbert about the incident. She asked Gilbert what became of Anna Mae after they talked with her. Gilbert said, “Oh, we just told her to get out of there.”

The myths that have grown up around this story are volatile. They are fueled by Jordan Dill on his websites and Paul Demain in his newspaper.

Dill and Demain sound like bellowing wrestlers in their proclamations. They have ranted about a ten tooth beating during the alleged interrogation of Aquash. Actually, according to “The life and Death of Anna Mae Aquash by Johanna Brand,” Anna Mae wore partials, which she had lost.

Dill and Demain quote Minnie Two Shoes quoting Iris Thunder Cloud as saying that Anna Mae told her that Leonard Peltier put a gun in her mouth as he questioned her at an AIM conference. There is no eye witness to affirm that this incident actually happened.

During Robert Eccoffey’s testimony he states that Arlo told him that when they crossed the fence, she (Anna Mae) knew what was going to happen. Roger Amiotte had testified that the fence had not been there in 1976, the year he found the body.

Why did Arlo have a detailed memory of crossing a fence that would be built years later? Why did he recall that by crossing that yet-to-be fence Anna Mae knew she was about to be killed?

Eccoffey thinks he sees rope burns on the corpse’s wrists in the crime scene photos. It is here that the kidnapping story is born. There is no mention of rope burns by either medical examiner in both autopsy reports.

Dr. Gary Peterson who performed the second autopsy said that Anna Mae’s severed hands were returned to him. He examined them and rejoined them with the body.

Dr. Peterson also said he examined the genitalia and it appeared normal. He did not mention evidence of trauma or rape.

Many lies and exaggerations have been told by FBI and their spin doctors in this story to manipulate our emotions. One of the worst is the rape of Anna Mae.

Both Arlo and John have been accused of raping Anna Mae by the FBI spinmeisters. Dill and Demain have ranted that six to eight AIM men raped Anna Mae Aquash either while she was interrogated or being held captive. That is a sick male fantasy.

Dr. Gary Peterson did not say there was evidence that Anna Mae had been raped and beaten. How many friends have cried over the years at the thought of their sister being bound and gang raped by her brothers? The thought of her being beaten so badly that ten teeth are knocked out is heartbreaking. Those lies are unconscionable.

This case is classic FBI cointelpro. Anna Mae Aquash was targeted by the FBI for elimination. They think they are wriggling out of their responsibility for her assassination by this sham trial of Arlo Looking Cloud.

The FBI has used Indian journalists to plant their lies and shine the light away from their culpability. They claim to have lost all evidence connected with the murder of Anna Mae Aquash. They continue to release new accusations of a nonexistent beating and rape.

There was no evidence presented at Arlo’s trial linking him to the murder of Anna Mae Aquash. By their own testimony some of those who turned state implicated themselves. They appear guiltier than Arlo.

Angie Janis admits being a part of the Denver AIM meeting that decided that Anna Mae Aquash was an informant. She physically stops Troy Lynn Yellow Wood from calling the police to save Anna Mae.

John Trudell claims to have received a distress signal from Aquash in the form of a ring. A letter supposedly from Anna Mae was recently released on the internet. The letter states the ring was given to AIM attorney Beverly Axelrod to mail. That letter was supposedly written while Anna Mae was in a Vancouver Washington jail after the Brando motor home bust on November 14 of 1975.

There was plenty of time for Trudell to intervene on Anna Mae’s behalf if she had been killed on December 12 1975 as the FBI asserted in Arlo’s trial. There would have been more time if she had been killed in the middle of February as stated by the FBI’s first press release of her death.

Kamook Nichols Banks Ecoffey stated in her CBC interview with Anna Marie Tremonti that she learned one day that Anna Mae was having an affair with her husband Dennis Banks. The next day Anna Mae was interrogated about being an informant.

Dennis Banks stated to Tremonti that if he had a choice of who he would spend the rest of his life with, he would have chosen Anna Mae.

Kamook testified that Dennis Banks and Leonard Peltier forced Anna Mae to make bombs. They wanted to frame Aquash with her own fingerprints on the bombs. It would seem that fingerprints would be destroyed when the bomb detonated.

There seems to be descriptions of at least two different bodies in the crime scene reports and the two separate autopsies. Anyone who points this out is ridiculed by the FBI apologists. Yet the strongly differing descriptions are in their own reports in their own words.

No evidence of any kind was presented during the trial to prove that Anna Mae Aquash was kidnapped, held prisoner, beaten and raped. There is no evidence linking Arlo to a kidnapping, rape, or murder. All testimony was hearsay. Most of it was about the American Indian Movement, not Arlo.

Arlo’s new attorney Terry Gilbert filed an appeal on the grounds of ineffective assistance of counsel; plain error of the court in admitting into evidence non-probative information that was highly prejudicial and not relevant to the case, admission of hearsay evidence and failure to give appropriate jury instructions and insufficiency of the evidence.

The eighth Circuit Court of Appeals denied Arlo’s appeal. They ruled that Rensch did not provide ineffective assistance by failing to move to suppress the taped police interview because Arlo was intoxicated. The police did not test the level of alcohol and drugs in Arlo’s system. There was no evidence that he was incapacitated.

The most damning testimony was that of Darlene “Kamook” Nichols Banks Eccoffey. They deduced from Kamook’s testimony that several AIM members (including Kamook) took Anna Mae away for weeks to “watch her.” Kamook said that Aquash was constantly watched, was not allowed to go anywhere alone, and was not permitted to go home despite her requests to do so. According to Ken Stern’s book “Loud Hawk” Anna Mae had the power to deny Russ Redner’s request for a weapon on that caravan.

The trial of Arlo Looking Cloud is frightening for several reasons. The American Indian Movement appeared to be on trial not Arlo. The Movement was found guilty of a propensity for violence. That was primarily based on Kamook’s testimony. There was no physical evidence presented against Arlo himself.

Angie Janis testified that Anna Mae was carried from Yellow Wood’s house tied to a board. Yet she did not see Anna Mae’s hands tied. Yellow Wood testified that Anna Mae walked out and left of her own accord, though unwillingly. The court accepted Angie Janis’ version, the kidnapping story. The court deduced that since Aquash was tied to a board, Arlo knew she was going to be killed.

Kamook Nichols Banks Ecoffey claims that Anna Mae was her best friend and she was a prisoner on the Brando motor home caravan. Kamook did not try to help her escape. She was part of that cell. Did she aid and abet in the kidnap and imprisonment of her best friend? She did not use her influence as the wife of AIM’s cofounder and top leader to stop the rumors or to protect Anna Mae.

If a kidnapping did occur in Denver then Angie Janis aided and abetted by stopping Troy Lynn Yellow Wood from calling for help. Angie Janis received the phone call and carried the message to Denver AIM that Anna Mae was to be returned to South Dakota. She admits to sitting in on a meeting that decided that Anna Mae was an informant.

The American Indian Movement dies in a snake pit from its own venomous bites. Members point fingers at each other and hurl accusations.

John Trudell testified that he was told of Anna Mae’s murder by Dennis Banks. Trudell says this was before the FBI announced that the Wanblee body was Aquash.

Dennis Banks stated in his memoir “Ojibwa Warrior” that Trudell told him that the Wanblee body was Anna Mae. This was also before the FBI announced the name.

The trial transcripts read like a bad script for a really bad movie. The federal government may have convicted Arlo Looking Cloud of aiding and abetting a murder. Without concrete evidence against Arlo, the federal government did not acquit themselves of the murder of Anna Mae Aquash.

ORB PHOTO FROM GEORGE BUSH’S SECOND INAUGURATION

I had to dig through a ton of photos to find this.I had never heard of orb photos when I took this. So I just assumed that they fucked it up during developing. Of course maybe they did. I have no idea why I took this particular photo either, most of the pictures were of floats, marching bands, or men riding horses. I can’t tell what the van is. most of the officers were from SWAT teams around the country, most of them were very nice and would move so you could take photos. Not all of them but most. Even though the officer in the photo has a scowl he was exceptionally nice and would move out of the way and answer questions.

orbs at the parade

orbs at the parade

I did not vote for George Bush either time it was the beginning of my switch to socialism. It was not an overnight decision but took a few years.

I went to the inauguration because I had never been before…you know how you live so close to something that you take it for granted. I try not to do that anymore.

ANNA MAE AQUASH 10

What an interesting month it has been…. I think there must be a perpetual full moon!!!!

Once again I must thank Stephen Hendricks for clarifying the false plagiarism accusations against me. (Gotta love a man whose not afraid to take his wife’s name.)

It has been awhile so to refresh your memories a rancher found the body of a woman on his property February 24 1976.

The pathologist completely fucked up the autopsy and lied about it.

The FBI completely fucked up the identification process and lied about it

Then lied some more and…

some more.

What a fucking surprise!!! Considering that one of the men who testified against Arlo Looking Cloud is the man who wrote the forward to AMERICAN INDIAN MAFIA lied to me suggesting that I had committed plagiarism.

“Miss Tool…

Federal Copyright Law & the Fair Use Doctrine provides for LIMITED
excerpts of a work to be used as you are Using “Unquiet Grave”…

So, i shall assume Mr. Hendricks has given You permission, In Writing,
to excerpt his work this excessively?

just wonderin’ “

This is who the FBI keeps company with? Someone who just throws accusations around indiscriminately?

What the fuck kind of a person throws out shit like that? He just makes up shit and threatens people with Federal crimes???  This is who the FBI  considers to be a reliable source of information?

This is a credible witness???

Not for anything but  I will never believe another thing that comes out of this man’s mouth.

And to think that I thought Monica Charles was being too hard on him! (and she never says I told you so)

What the fuck is our government spending our tax dollars on??

Sure can’t afford to honor their treaties.

Sure can’t afford to provide decent health care on the reservation…

But they sure can afford to go to trial with witnesses who make false claims and threats…..

Wake up America this is your FBI at work. …coming to a courtroom in your area soon!!

Printed that shit out and sent it to my congresspersons!

One would think that Arlo Looking Cloud could get a new trial based on this guy alone

But then you all should read the disclaimer to AMERICAN INDIAN MAFIA:

Back to Anna Mae Aquash…

all excerpts are in italics from THE UNQUIET GRAVE written by Steve Hendricks.

So once again the FBI lies about when they knew that the fingerprints belonged to Anna Mae.

the key manuscript is Aquash’s FBI Identification Record…Aquash’s death was logged on her identification record as “received” on March 2, the day she was buried. Head quarters could not have marked her death as received into her record unless it knew her identity.

the FBI apparently identified Aquash either on or before the day its agents buried her-not the next day, as publicly claimed.

And then…

The FBI has released just one other paper on Aquash….The paper is a short memo saying simply that the lab had identified Aquash. what is doctored is the date which in the released version reads “March 10, 1976.” the “10″ has been sandwiched into a space that originally held only one digit, which digit was apparently whited-out and replaced with the “10″. Perhaps the doctoring was harmless. Or perhaps the original digit was a damning 1 0r 2, indicating the FBI knew who Aquash was before her burial on March 2.

Agent Wood….”immediately” on learning Aquash  was Jane doe …went to work on the exhumation papers. But neither the FBI nor the office of the U.S. attorney, which drafted the exhumation request, has produced any evidence that they started working on the request until March 8, five days after Aquash was identified.

March 8 happened to be the day a lawyer from WKDOC went to the FBI’s Rapid City office and demanded a copy of Dr. Brown’s autopsy report.

So it takes a director of the FBI three months from the body being found before he will answer any questions. But of course they lied….again. Clarence Kelley (FBI) said only one agent had been at the scene, that no one there or at the hospital had seen any sign of violence and that Chamberlain had declared the body needed to be buried. Kelly also knew the entrance wound had been obvious, but he implied it was not by calling it “small”.  He knew the lodged bullet had been visible to the naked eye, but he implied the opposite by saying it had “behind” Aquash’s eye socket. He knew Dr. Peterson had diagnosed the bullet wound in a few seconds, but he implied the opposite by saying Peterson made his diagnosis only after x rays were taken. (Why lie about all of this???)

There was supposed to be a General Crimes investigation but when the Congress asks questions about all of this the FBI’s standard reply reads “We believe the allegations….lack the specificity necessary for an investigation. Accordingly, no action on our part is warranted.

This calls for a celebration I am done with Chapter 1!!!!

CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT 3

If you leave the closet door shut on your skeletons not only will they haunt you but they will haunt the next generation and so on.

Trusting someone implies that you have something to hide or protect. As I stated previously I believe that AIM started self destructing when it foist upon its members the burden of being trusted. The very core of AIM then became so fragile that all that was needed to set off self implosion was for one member to break the “trust”. At the point that it was revealed that there had been an FBI informant living among them they had two choices. Recognize how the burden of trust made them weak or dig the trenches deeper thus causing more paranoia and suspicion…making it quite easy for the government to play mind games and instill doubt.

I am curious about who killed Anna Mae Aquash…I am curious that the case lives on and that so many people are so emotionally affected by it. I am curious that there is so much hatred and blame towards AIM. So much vilification and finger pointing. And a complete silence towards the FBI  and our government. Even if I believed 100% that a member of AIM pulled the trigger how would that negate the crimes against the entire Indian population during that time?

That is what I find truly disturbing….and curious. I watched a video of Sherman Alexie being interviewed a few months ago. He joked about the colonization of Indians. That he made a conscious decision to marry an Indian women even though the subject of his fantasies most often were white women. But you know with Sherman Alexie as with most of us who find humor in what surrounds us…there is a deep well of pain. Alexie also said that the Indians of a hundred years ago would not recognize the Indians of today and that the same will be true in another hundred years. He said one of the problems is that Indians love their colonizers….of course he was not talking about AIM  or Wounded Knee…he was speaking mostly of himself…but I am curious if that is the force behind the lack of holding the FBI accountable for anything.

Then again I’m curious if it is because I am white maybe I am thinking of this the wrong way…Maybe an Indian would be holding AIM to a higher standard than they would the FBI and would therefore be more disappointed or devastated at the corruption that eventually plagued the leaders. Would blame AIM solely for the things that have happened.

My curiosity has brought me much confusion where this subject is concerned….the control issue blows me away and Anna Mae is just the catalyst….I have been accused of using Anna Mae for “self-aggrandizement” what ever the hell that is supposed to mean….But come to think of it if I could be the inspiration of the self-aggrandizement of a few woman I would be happy!

There is a certain apprehension when dealing with a subject I am so unfamiliar with.

This might be an ongoing series to help me clear my head and to keep my self from falling into mud puddles. I think that exploring Indian territory will have me questioning my beliefs…preconceived notions…have a feeling that I will fall into a lot of mud puddles and have to wash myself clean.

Please keep in mind that I am far from perfect and tomorrow I will take up the story of Anna Mae once again.

WILLY WHITEFEATHER 2

I haven’t seen Willy Whitefeather in over a year…but he is in my head a lot. I would probably be a better person if he was in my head all of the time!

I sent Willy one of my very late Christmas cards and he sent me this in return.

Willy's latest stories and drawings

Willy's latest stories and drawings

Damn right these are exhausting times!!

When Willy is telling stories this all makes sense...not so much a year later

This must be a song

When Willy is talking everything he says makes sense. One of the things I love about Willy is that he himself always says believe nothing I say. I talk in circles. He laughs at himself and has a great sense of humor...even his eyes laugh!

CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT 2

America is only now beginning to wake up because the flawed system that we created is no longer biased against minorities alone. White people as a group tend to blame the oppressed for their troubles and in turn many of the minorities trying to become socially accepted by whites themselves adopt similar views. I believe that there is intentional suppression of minorities but the majority is just ingrained in every cell in our brains. We have been trained to think a certain way and until a miracle happens or we are jolted into another way of thinking we do not consider leaving the box.

Luckily I have always been curious. Maybe not about the right things. I am no different I was not curious about many things in life until they started affecting me or those around me. I wonder what I am missing even now.

Sometimes my curiosity burns me but live and learn.

Sometimes my curiosity offends others. I started this blog about 2 months ago and because of a link I put up on one of my posts I have been learning about Anna Mae Aquash. I have been posting a lot about Anna Mae Aquash (just in case you haven’t noticed). For some reason this upsets many people.

I find that very very curious.

What I find even more curious is the psychology and dynamics of people online.  I must say I was side swiped when my posts were copied onto a certain discussion group. I was not offended everything on my blog is free to copy just credit me and don’t charge people for it. I have certainly enjoyed the extra traffic from the discussion group.

To my amazement I have been accused of many things. Damn good thing I have a sense of humor to go along with my curiosity.

It has been years since I have encountered people that want to control who you can be friends with, what you can read or write or think about. What you should be feeling. But then again is that not the core of the problem in the world today? PEOPLE WHO WANT TO CONTROL OTHERS. Have you ever noticed that even a small child will try to control or boss  the family pet as the control issue makes it down the chain?

Let’s look at some of the things I have been accused of…

I DO NOT EXIST….quite possible. If you have read Eckart Tolle, Gary Zukov, or Parhamahansa Yogananda…..you are probably right!

I AM AN FBI PLANT…Actually it’s CIA. Secret Agent Tool at your service.

I CANNOT BE TRUSTED….Now who the fuck goes on line to find someone to trust??? What sort of bullshit nonsense is that???  Trust what and why? Trust seems to be a self serving purpose to guarantee yourself a major let down.

You can go online and hope you can trust the guy to send you the camera you just gave over your credit card for…but personal trust?? What sort of trust are these people talking about anyway. I’m not there to take their  wallet.

Friendship trust? With what?? Why would you even put such a burden on someone you claim to be your friend. You can “trust” me on this one thing. If you know me for several years..

I will disappoint you.

I will let you down.

I will hurt you.

Maybe not intentionally but it is almost guaranteed that it is going to happen. I don’t think that you can be a human being with an ounce of spiritual or intellectual growth with out breaking the “trust” that such persons inflict on others. I am most lucky that I have several friendships that have survived the many breaches of “trust” on both sides.

The only trust you should have is in yourself and God. I am curious about the sort of trust these people are talking about. What sort of trust does one expect on the computer??

Worried about trusting me because I might be the figment of someones imagination. What the hell were they intending to tell me that finding out I am actually Fred from Arkansas was going to personally harm them. I am very curious about that!

I have made a friend online her name is Monica Charles.( seemed a bit hokey at first)  She is one of those women who runs with the wolves…very controversial and outspoken.

Monica believes that there are people on the discussion group that are FBI plants…and lately she has been accused of being an FBI plant. So what?

Being on line is about as public as it can get…on an international basis! I am still curious about this trust issue..Hell if I found out Monica was really an FBI agent I think that would make her even more interesting!

Monica was (or is) a member of AIM. She may not agree but from what I have learned and observed which has been very little….it seems that trust was the downfall of an organization that started with the most noble of intentions. If people had not been put into the positions of having to be trusted the organization would have increased its strength. Instead of reaching out they turned inward. I observed this behavior while trying to start a union. The Unions had the curious behavior that you had to hide your actions. I was like so? This is America it’s not like my head is going to get chopped off.  People who are being oppressed need to see others set the example of not being oppressed.I think that is the reason that corporations gained the upper hand. The Unions became fearful and thus lost their power. People are attracted to power and power has no fear. Until it fears the loss of its power.

I find it curious that the natural instinct is to hide…sort of like hiding skeletons in your closet….people think that they will be safe if they keep skeletons in the closet. The opposite is true it is in the closet where they will continue to haunt you. Open the fucking door!! Disappear they will..

To be continued…

WILLY WHITEFEATHER 1

I used to visit one of my young relatives in the YCF (youth correctional facility) he always talked about the man who ran the Native American services Willy Whitefeather. Willy this Willy that….So when he was speaking at a library I went to see him.

I had not been in Oregon and everything that could go wrong in my life did go wrong…but for everyone of those wrongs I was given a miracle. Willy Whitefeather was one of those miracles. While I was listening to Willy  tell stories I was aware that I was absorbing much needed energy from him. Literally I could feel the energy filling me. A week later I wrote to him and thanked him for the much needed energy infusion.

Usually I am a high energy person and have ooddles to give to those around me. But I had just spent a year with my Mother while we were taking care of my Grandmother who died that year….when I moved to Oregon I had another relative that was drowning.  I was completely drained and was having a complete physical breakdown. Never in my life have I been so unhealthy. You should never allow people to take from you at your own detriment….but that is where God come is my life. God always gives me what I need regardless of how much I curse him!

Willy has had a profound impact on my life because he is an example of what we should all be. Willy says he is a storyteller and leaves it at that. Never asks for anything…everything he does is for free.  Willy gives away everything. His time his energy. I tend towards the new age side of religion but most of the new age people are whack jobs pontificating for a few dollars.Willy lives in a cabin off the grid..or so he says-I have never been there. If Willy proclaimed himself to be a spiritual leader and started a church people would flock to him as they do to his story telling. Like I said he stays away from that stuff and that is why I like him so much.

RICHARD TWO ELKS MEET MY DAD STEPHEN RICHARD TOOL

Contrary to the overactive imaginations over at alt.native I HAVE NEVER ASKED MONICA CHARLES TO POST ON ALT.NATIVE FOR ME….

until tonight.

My Father’s name is Stephen Richard Tool he died a few years back…I will never forget the sound of my Mother screaming over the telephone….

MY DAD HOLDING ME WHEN I WAS A BABY

MY DAD HOLDING ME WHEN I WAS A BABY

He was not perfect. Like most parents he had his good along with his bad…he had regrets in his life….mostly that he was too hard on my brother.

HERE IS A PAGE FROM THE 1964 ANNUAL OF THE MADDOX

He served 20 years in the Navy and this annual was from the year before I was born.

I think he was happier in the Navy.

MY DAD IN UNIFORM

MY DAD IN UNIFORM

Like I said he wasn’t perfect but he had some qualities that have had a profound effect on my life.

For instance when we moved to a logging community in Oregon he drove a yellow Chevy Luv. Most men wouldn’t be caught dead driving a pick up much less a yellow Chevy Luv. Most men have to have a great big four wheel drive so that they can feel like they are men….even if it means that their kids don’t have enough to eat….

THIS IS MY PERSONAL FAVORITE OF ME AND MY DAD

When you disrespect my Father’s name it is only your own father that you are disrespecting.

That is TOOL THE COOL FOOL  to you. Go ahead it doesn’t bother me.

E-MAIL FROM STEVE HENDRICKS

THANK YOU STEVE HENDRICKS!!! (You too Richard Two Elks)

Steve Hendricks is the author of  THE UNQUIET GRAVE which I have been posting excerpts of on my blog….people have been criticizing me and accusing me of plagiarism so I e-mailed Mr. Hendricks my website and posts.

I really wasn’t sure what he was going to say….even though I had been reassured that what I was writing was alright…Richard Two Elks got me thinking that I might be wrong and with all of the criticism I have received ….I wanted Steve Hendricks to read my posts and determine if it was o.k.

Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks for your note and your interest in my book. Glad it made an impact on you. I don’t mind you quoting from the book on your blog, so long as the quotes are accurate and it’s clear they’re coming from the book. That’s not plagiarism. If you were reprinting a lot of pages–a quarter or half a chapter, say–I think my publisher would ask you to pay a royalty. But it’s fine to quote a bunch of more-limited excerpts.
I wouldn’t put too much stock in what the American Indian Mafia-types say.
Best of luck and thanks again,
Steve
Once again THANK YOU!

LISTENING TO STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN

Got home from an overnight trip…..put on some Stevie Ray Vaughan. Helping me get through the 140 e-mails!!! Might need a shot of whiskey for reinforcement!!!

I need to upload pictures….

THANK YOU READERS!!!!….I can take a day off and views are consistent! I appreciate everyone!!!

Here is Stevie Ray Vaughan doing MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB…I cried the day he died.

CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT

Curiosity resides in every cell in my body.

When  I was young I used to hate it when adults used the phrase Curiosity killed the cat. What the hell kind of a response is that? One invented to frustrate me.

It wasn’t until I was in high school that one of my teachers by the name of Dr. Lakes informed me that there was more to the phrase Curiosity killed the cat…but the truth brought him back!

That is more like it!

I don’t understand people who live without curiosity. I have many friends that live that way..sometimes I envy them. They generally have what appears to be a rosy life on the surface they  read romance novels, and think that Thomas Kinkaide is the greatest living painter. As a wannabe painter myself you are supposed to hate and despise Thomas Kinkaide. I sort of understand his fans. There are people who survive by not knowing what is going on in the world….there is so much thrown at us. Life is hard.

We have created a life that has us running in circles trying to catch up. We have convinced ourselves that we need a bunch of crap in order to be a worthwhile person. We are on a treadmill trying to keep up with our housing , electricity, phone, cell, heat, food, car, insurance….internet bills. We need the latest electronic gadgets, beauty products, clothes …. I can’t imagine what it is like to have kids on top of it all…

Getting your children through the education system is a full time job. You cannot leave your childrens future in the hands of the public school system. Being a good parent is a full time job under the best of circumstances. Women are the ones who usually make the career sacrifice…And a huge sacrifice it is.

So I understand to a point the lack of curiosity in many women..when they have spare time they don’t want more work they want to escape in a romance novel where the men are the perfect ideal….look at a soft fantasy painting of the house they dream to be living in where everything is magically perfect no one mowing lawns…no cars…the kids aren’t fighting…there is no kitchen stove waiting to be turned on.

Somewhere the world has gotten off track…there is so much propaganda, there are so many corrupt people, there are so many issues. We are suffocating ourselves under them.

But unfortunately we cannot continue to ignore them. That is how they got so bad in the first place. I don’t think that televison was invented as a pacifier. But it is. Television, drugs, alcohol, pornography, sports they all act as pacifiers on a very large segment of the population.

As we use these to escape we give our power away. We have lost a little here and a little there…we rise up to protest but at the first sign of trouble we sit down in defeat….turn on DANCING WITH THE STARS.

As society wakes up from the stupor they look around and it isn’t one problem it is a thousand and we cannot possibly keep track  or learn about every single one of them. The loss of our labor right’s, the loss of a living wage, we have completely fucked up the environment, corporations packaging unhealthy foods, Monsanto genetically altering our seeds, 4 or 5 companies controlling the world food supply, arms dealers, human trafficking, drug lords, trillions spent going to war under false pretenses, corporate tax evaders, nuclear waste, holy wars, genocide, endangered species, OUR FUCKING WATER SUPPLY IS DWINDLING…on and on and on.

Is there any body of land that is greater than America?? Maybe I speak from ignorance. I have never been out of the United States but from what I read in the National Geographic, this seems like the best place to be. We cannot ignore our history. If we do not make the attempts to right our wrongs we will fail. If we are too afraid to look at our past we will fail. If we do not start exploring what really is and why we will fail. If we do not go back and start acknowledging our crimes and then make some attempt to right some of those wrongs we will fail.

Our society has failed. What we do day in and day out is a complete and utter failure…it is just stretched out over a long period of time so we  are for the most part unable to recognize it. As a result we have willingly handed over our government to private corporations….our roadways, healthcare, prisons, water supply, hell we even have a privatized police force now….

America is only starting to wake up because it is no longer just affecting the minorities…to be contiued.

SIMON STRIKES AGAIN

This is what is wrong with America….here is Mr. Simon’s comment on my AMERICAN INDIAN MAFIA post.

Janklow went to jail for his crimes. The AIM leaders, however, have evaded justice in the premeditated murder of Anna Mae Aquash, and possibly several others. Thank you for proving our point that ignorance abounds when discussing the AIM legacy.

Are you freaking out of your mind??? He served a mere 100 days in a county facility! Premeditated murder? The trial has not even started yet…and from what I understand it was little more than a kangaroo court. Why has it taken 30 years? Once again why do you already pronounce John Graham and Richard Marshall guilty?

There’s a kid in a YCF that is serving five years and has to be moved to OSP for a few of those years when he turns 18 ….not to mention the restitution he has to work and pay off when he gets out. He doesn’t get to go out and perform “community service” or what ever nonsense Bill Jankow was allowed to do.

You sent me a link about the “real” victims of Wounded Knee….yeah I’m sure it is bad….what have YOU and the FBI agents that were there done for those families….60 families over 30 something years…they should all be taken care of by now. Seriously tell me all about how you have helped them…You would be in held in much greater esteem. What did Bill Jankow do for those families when he was governor? Are the proceeds of AMERICAN INDIAN MAFIA going to help those families? Did the Governor at the time declare Wounded Knee a disaster and plea for Federal dollars to help the families rebuild.

What about those rape charges you seem to have no problem proclaiming John Graham guilty before trial….more double standards??? Is it o.k. in your mind that the son of a bitch never went to trial. Does it not make you sick to your stomach at the thought of that happening to one of your young female relatives?

The people you admire astound me… Bill Janklow is no G.Gordon Liddy. Liddy had to serve about 4 years for for burglary and wiretapping but he served 4 years and has no regrets he admits everything he did..believes in everything he did. I don’t have to agree with him but you gotta have respect for a guy who doesn’t whine and takes responsibility for his actions.

You and people of your ilk are what make this country less than honorable…One can be proud of their country and ashamed of their government.

The difference between you and I is that I see AIM for what it is the good the bad and the ugly. I do not admire the men in AIM who committed crimes against women, violence against other humans…. I do admire the intention before it went awry.

I also see the FBI for what it is the good the bad the ugly the oppressor. I do not admire as you do corrupt law enforcement. I despise them a thousand times more than the worst of AIM. What you purport is that the FBI is above the law- you are wrong. They should be held to the highest of standards as should our politicians, and military.

I cannot spend anymore time on you…. it is like having a conversation with one of those dolls that repeats prerecorded sayings when you pull on its string..not an original thought between the ears.

(Try watching some of those COINTELPRO videos I have on the side you just might learn something)
