PAINTING/MOVIES/BAILOUT NATION/POWWOW HIGHWAYS/BUFFY SAINTE MARIE

That’s what my afternoon has been about…I watched (listened) all of the Cointelpro videos on my blog. They are all very good and informative except the one titled  Monarch chapter 8 which is good until the end when they start talking about the government sending microwaves to drive people crazy.

My favorite is the one by Noam Chomsky who is considered to be one of the greatest intellects around the world except in the United States where he is continually vilified by conservatives who have little  faith or respect for the people who make up America. A couple of ideas put forth by Mr. Chomsky are that the government had no right to go after the Communist, Socialist, minority parties in the United states because under our government they are just as legal as the Democratic and Rupublican parties. He also said that Watergate was a tea party compared to Cointelpro. The reason Watergate gets so much more publicity is because there were crimes committed against rich and powerful people…politicians. While Cointelpro was targeting the poor and minorities. And who gives a fuck about them?? I had them on while I was cleaning my house..well part of it anyway!!!

I sat down to paint and I usually listen to music but today I was on a political roll so I got on my Netflix and watched(listened) to AT THE DEATH HOUSE DOOR and THE INJUSTICE SYSTEM IN AMERICA.

AT THE DEATH HOUSE DOOR was about this man who was asked to be the pastor in a prison in Texas, when the Supreme Court overturned the death penalty he was pastor to the death row inmates. It was so hard for him that he started speaking into a microphone and made a tape about each person he helped before they were executed….It was very haunting.

This subject has been interesting me because Mark Thompson of Make it Plain has been speaking of it lately…the whole problem of having prisons that are privatized. Do we really think that the object of any company is to make less money?? Those companies who profit from prisoners have no intention of trying to habilitate criminals…they are lobbying to pass more laws so that they can build more prisons and make more money…

THE INJUSTICE SYSTEM IN AMERICA  touched on the private prisons but was mainly about the differences between the arrests and sentencing of non-whites vs. whites. Even in cities where the make up of black people is only 5% the arrest and incarceration rate was 15% for blacks.

One of the biggest travesties in the criminal justice system was the criminalization of crack cocaine at 100 times greater than it’s original powdered form. The theory is that the difference in the sentences is because rich people can afford cocaine and poor people buy crack. Regardless of the fact that whites consume more crack cocaine than do black people the rate of black people being arrested with the mandatory prison sentences is far greater than whites.

As was pointed out in the documentary there are just as many drugs in a frat house at Yale as there are in the ghetto a few blocks away…but do the police ever raid the frat house at Yale?…need Ianswer that?

Another good statement that came from the movie was that “A good cop is a cop who will enforce the law against another cop and uphold the law within the Department as well as out of the department”. (that might not be exact) James Simon what do you think of that?

I forgot to post this yesterday…THE NEW COVER FOR BAILOUT NATION!!! Barry Ritholtz  is still writing a few more chapters probably about those dumb fucks at McGraw Hill!!!

Then I checked my mail and I got this

DAVID IF YOU SEE THIS PRETEND YOU DO NOT SEE THE DOLLAR STICKER!!!

DAVID IF YOU SEE THIS PRETEND YOU DO NOT SEE THE DOLLAR STICKER!!!

I was tempted and read the first chapter and was already laughing…You can tell it is an easy read. I had to force myself to put it down…Fidel, this wind has frozen my asshole shut. I want to buy one of your fine ponies.” ….but I know I will need it more when I am done with GARDENS IN THE DUNES.

Still wondering about the family of skunks in the back seat….

Anyway here is the book on  Amazon you can read the reviews too….AND BRAND NEW IT IS ONLY FOUR YES…. F-O-U-R DOLLARS!!!! (Now I feel like a heel…albeit a poverty stricken heel!)

Apparently Buffy did not like the last album which is a concept album but I think it is the most intriguing of the three. But the other two are great. I like that she writes country music from an Indian point of view!

I found this video of her on You Tube

and this

but no I meant to post a video on You Tube of Buffy Sainte-Marie being interviewed by Brenda Norrell ….surprise it has been removed!!! Here is the interview off of Brenda’s website CENSORED BLOG.

What an informative day it has been!!!
