I love getting movies from Netflix they have a huge selection to order and also a big selection of movies you can watch on the computer.
Recently my friend and fellow blogger Ordinary Sparrow put up a post about the movie FULL METAL JACKET. I couldn’t remember if I watched it before. I hadn’t.I love getting movie recommendations from interesting people. Some of the best books and movies I have come across was because someone recommended them to me. Netflix recommends movies based on your ratings of other movies….sometimes they get it right and other times they are way off.
The beginning was quite amusing with the insults and humerous lyrics to bootcamp songs. Having grown up with a father who spent 20 years in the old school Navy…I could relate

Back to the movie…
It depicted the trauma of war on the psyche pretty well and the ways that soldiers cope with the insanity and brutality.
But a thought crossed my mind that wars are going to end then would be soldiers need to stop participating in such actions. We cannot expect our corporate run government to make the right decisions…they haven’t done so yet. I wonder what it would be like if there just weren’t enough people willing to fight? Probably we would see a our government quickly enslave its people. It seems that the object of war today is to make money. The corporations are happy with the way things are going because winning is not the object. This long drawn out siphon of money from the tax payers is the goal, in addition to widening the gap between the working class and the CEO’S of these companies. It does not matter the outcome as long as money is being made.
