SCHOOL ART AT THE MALL
I had to be in the local mall last night, and they had an exhibition of artists 1st through 12th grade…in my opinion no gallery or museum can rival the vision and talent of youth! I cropped the photos so the names and schools of the kids were not shown in some cases it took out a chunk from the art….
Spidy!!!
This is distorted because it was up high…lovely portrait!! I wonder if it was of Self?
I have drawn Buddha in this fashion before…not this good though!!!
Now this is very interesting and I am quite sorry the focus was off….hell breaking loose because this is a senior in high school about to down a margarita??? The pink comfortable chair…with a demon lurking in the shadows…interesting story being told here…why is the chair empty?
Someone was having a good day!!
If only that were true for the rest of us!!
Another great portrait…these kids are quite talented!!
Quite a pirate ship sailing into the sunset
Surely this must be along the Oregon Trail!!
And how great is this sun!!!!
in the garden….interesting colors
I have seen many versions of this driving home at sunset the black trees against layers of mountains…awesome!
Serengeti in Southern Oregon…
Hmmm its a good thing that is a mouse and not a Sparrow…
This bear won a blue ribbon…
MONTANA STRAGGLERS 3
Finally the last of the stragglers in Montana….
more views that surround Yellowstone….
Earthquake Lake was created when a 7.3 quake hit the Yellowstone area in 1959 killing 28 people.
MONTANA STRAGGLERS
When I was scanning the photographs from Montana I tried to bunch them together but there were some that were left over here and there that I never got around to. Here they are and a good thing too!! I haven’t been using the camera the way I usually do! And my trip to the coast this week was a disaster with landslides and rain and sirens at 3 a.m….
The next three photos are of the Continental Divide between Butte and Whitehall! It is breath taking and when I go back I will take lots of photographs. The problem is that there aren’t a lot of places to pull over and the interstate runs through it. All of the winter snow pictures in Montana were taken on the Continental Divide not far from here.
The rest of the photographs are from when I tried to go to Yellowstone (the main road was shut down due to a forest fire about 10 minutes after I arrived at the visitor’s center….didn’t get upset because I knew I would be back!) I wanted to see more of Montana so instead of going back the way I had come from Whitehall I drove around and headed towards Big Sky and Bozeman. The country is beautiful and there are coyotes everywhere and herds of deer and antelopes.
You can see the trees that were killed by the beetle infestation in the below photo they attack weakened trees and they turn brown and die. We have the same problem in certain parts of Oregon.
more stragglers to come..
ANOTHER MELANCHOLY DAY IN OREGON II
My friend Willy Whitefeather says you shouldn’t complain about the weather….its doing what its supposed to be doing….that we shouldn’t criticize or wish for something else….we just might get it!! So in the spirit of that I’m thinking that while the gray skies match my mood eventually it will change for the better and the experience of sun and blue skies will be that much sweeter….
But even the dark clouds and swelling river are beautiful…and the green moss particularly stands having no other colors to compete!!
MONICA CHARLES WRITES ABOUT THE ANNA MAE MURDER TRIAL
ANNA MAE AQUASH: THE LEGEND
By
Monica J Charles
Anna Mae Aquash is the stuff of legends. She died in her prime under mysterious circumstances. She was only thirty years old and the mother of two small children. She was beautiful, smart and shined with promise. She was friends with the American Indian Movement leadership and the rank and file….CONTINUE STORY AT STELLAR HEALING
CLASSIC COINTELPRO
(The story of Anna Mae Aquash
and
Arlo Looking Cloud)
I don’t have words to name the anguish I have carried for Anna Mae, Arlo and John. Thirty years ago hope was a luminous butterfly breaking out of her cocoon in my heart. The days of the old movement, the 1970’s brought out the best in us, and the worst.
We flew to the sun and stole light at the occupation of Wounded Knee 1973 as our rag tag band of Indians yanked our history and destiny from the hands of the United States government. Wounded Knee had been synonymous with the death of our way of life. Close your eyes and you can see Big Foot and his people, frozen where they fell, shot by American soldiers…..CONTINUE THIS STORY AT STELLAR HEALING
A SECRET PICNIC PLACE FOR SHEL….someplace between Medford and Crescent City
Just a bit off the road and a little bit of a hike
over rocks and up the mountain…
leads you to fallen logs that have created
the prettiest little pool with the clearest water
with this adorable froggy who posed ever so patiently while I took a photo before hopping away…
The madrones play with the sky..
rocks become works of art….or maybe its the other way around….
The carnivorous Darlingtonia huddle awaiting the unsuspecting fly…
enjoy!
IN THE WATER
After hiking the same trail for awhile the vision expands or narrows depending on the mood…blades of grass or branches of trees are recognized as beauty on their own…in this case it is what is in the water….there is a whole little world that exists in the creek…
