RICHARD TWO ELK FOR SNAPPLE
I have posted on this before. I thought maybe it was something new…Richard Two Elk the man who wrote the forward to AMERICAN INDIAN MAFIA also makes videos. This is being put up again for SNAPPLE who runs the THE LEGEND OF PINE RIDGE blog. After watching it again I still have the same opinion….after the video…
I have several problems with this video…Richard Two Elks supposedly owns and produces videos yet he doesn’t know not to wear a hat on camera…indoors either as far as I am concerned. I was raised that it is disrespectful. Another thing that bothers me is that Richard Two Elks never speaks confidently into the camera…he hides his face and is always looking down at a prepared statement he also mumbles and slurs. It was a bizarre video the first time I watched it and still is. Richard Two Elks was at Wounded Knee II he knows who everyone is and the history….I still get names confused…but I can tell you what I know and believe….looking you in the eye confident that I am true to my feelings and in my beliefs based on what I know…But as I said this might be a difference between whites and Indians?? I am not trying to be mean but the video lacks passion and conviction for the subject never mind that I do not agree with all that is in the video….
Because I have read many other things by Richard Two Elk….I have a hard time believing that these are his words…this is how Richard Two Elks usually writes in some weird voice. This is a comment to me for posting the SNAPPLE post on alt.native

Like I said it may be a difference between whites and Indians…but Monica Charles doesn’t speak like that…its weird like he has to create another personality for???
I could be wrong but I was raised in a very conservative home and while I am quite liberal in my political views…I mostly carry quite conservative values and this man really bothers me…
One of the other things that bothers me about Richard Two Elks is that he admits to hanging a man on a cross and beating him…I know he was young but he was never charged by the FBI and speaks of the incident in the forward he wrote(?) to Special Agent Joseph Trimabach’s book AMERICAN INDIAN MAFIA. I am a huge believer that all laws should be for all people….while I may not be happy with the prison system in the United States…I believe that run correctly it should be a place where people are held accountable for their actions…I think it is a necessary step to healing all parties involved.I think that people either rise to the occasion or remain unable to confront the horror of what they have done and thus are never able to be totally free. I do not believe that informers involved in crimes should get lesser sentences than those they have informed on…I do think that it should be a consideration after remorseful behavior and parole is being considered. Richard Two Elk reminds me of someone who is not proud of who he has become.
There are a lot of accusations flung about on alt.native and I try not to pay attention to the ones that are just insults being flung around…there are a lot….one of the accusations being hurled around for awhile was that the “real victims” of Wounded Knees were those whose homes were destroyed and that the occupiers of Wounded Knee should sew blankets. Some write like the people are living in cardboard boxes not with no blankets or food….Wounded Knee seems to be a very emotional and sacred site, there was a movement of Indians who were being repressed by the government State and Federal….they thought quite mistakenly that a group of individuals with a few rifles were a match for for the United States government…and like Japan-they were wrong.
The appropriate response after Wounded Knee would have been for the governor at the time to declare an emergency ask for Federal money in order for the owners to rebuild….if this was not done? Shame should be on our government.
The video is very one sided and while Richard Two Elk claims PBS neglected to tell the death of a black supporter at Wounded Knee.. he fails to mention that he hung someone on a cross and beat them to death…this person has disappeared and apparently he changes his story…AIM took him….the FBI took him…??? This is a man who the FBI has chosen as their spokes person on AIM and Wounded Knee. Further more this video fails to mention the abuse and murder of Indian children on Pine Ridge…a little girls eye was shot out. Houses and cars were routinely shot up….even some of the lawyers for the occupiers were beaten. A young woman named Jancita Eagle Deer was raped by the future Governor…He was disbarred by the tribal courts…but the FBI was so racist against Indians that they did not consider the tribal judge to be legitamate….because he was Indian?? There are so many twists and turns to this story I encourage all of you who are interested to read THE UNQUIET GRAVE by Steve Hendricks. He seems to be unbiased and often criticizes or praises both the FBI and AIM.
The fact of the matter is PBS could do a five part series on Wounded Knee II and never be able to cover all of the finger pointing and accusations. The murder of Anna Mae Aquash alone has more whodunnit theories than CARTERS HAS LIVER PILLS!
My solution to all of this is to either let it drop or to put every single person under sodium penethol or hook them up to lie detector tests…every FBI agent, BIA workers…all of the major characters on Pine Ridge…in AIM…FBI informants…even with all of that peoples faulty memories probably still wouldn’t be enough to find out what really happened.

You write about abuse of women and children, but young women and girls were sexually assaulted and murdered during the take-over.
The lawyer for the AIM, Mark Lane, got money from the KGB. He was also the lawyer for the 900 people at Jonestown who were murdered. Mark Lane says he managed to escape that day. Only a few people weren’t poisoned or shot. Then Mark Lane–the AIMster lawyer who got money from the KGB–wrote a book that claimed the CIA killed those people.

You must not have read my posts or comments to James Simon very well. I do not just listen to Monica Charles…she merely suggested a book to read….I have been reading THE UNQUIET GRAVE by Steve Hendricks. I got hung up on the Jancita Eagle Deer story and wrote several posts about her. What do you think about Jancita Eagle Deer? Do you see her as just another lying drunk Indian woman who “got” what she asked for?
I in no way, shape or form support ANYONE who has raped or abused women or children…David Seals has spoken out against AIM leaders who treated women poorly…as has Monica Charles. (look up my posts on Bernard Red Cherries. I have a victims statement from his step daughter on my blog. A fellow blogger was threatened by Autonomous AIM Where is the FBI??) The point is Snapple, you and James Simon unconditionaly support those who who have either ignored or partaken in the abuse of women. As Monica Charles once wrote I see the law enforcement as public servants sworn to uphold the laws of the United States(she just plain mistrusts them). The FBI should have been protecting the rights of Native Americans and not just those of the colonizers.
I am not mired in opinion of one side over the other. I do not blindly support the AIM or the FBI. The only people I blindly support are the victims…and not the ones crying over the loss of their material possesions at Wounded KneeII
My sympathies and prayers go to the children like MaryAnn Little Bear and Jancita Eagle Deer…and the countless others who did not seem to warrant the FBI’s attention in the terms of a thorough investigation. That bothers me more than the Anna Mae Aquash murder…Anna Mae Aquash was a woman who made it to adulthood and made her decision to be involved in activities that may or may not get her killed…she felt that what she was doing was right and good. I do not agree with nor do I condemn her actions…She was caught up in something that became beyond her control. However I do not hold AIM to higher standards than I hold the FBI.The only law enforcement agent that looks to be a hero in all of this is U.S.Marshal Colburn…he’s good looking too!
My concept of my history has been pulled out from under me with this Indian stuff…totally blows me away at 43? My attitudes toward law enforcement and the government has changed considerably not because they made mistakes or did stupid things or even because they plotted to exterminate Indians but because they continue to support the wrong minded thinking in 2009. 2009 ! ! ! (kind of like the racism we are seeing with the election of Obama) They refuse to recognize, take responsibility and hold accountable those who did not enforce the laws that they were sworn to uphold. AIM was a group of protestors that got out of hand…the FBI is a government agency who only investigated crimes on Pine Ridge and other reservations when it suited their racist, paranoid beliefs.
As for Richard ‘Two Elks….have you ever read alt.native??? This is what the FBI supports??? Seriously???? All any jury would have to read is a copy of him making fun of a woman who was sexually abused by her father that pretty much negates what he claims to be consern and support for Native women. I own a copy of AMERICAN INDIAN MAFIA and I will get around to reading it. But being endorsed by Richard Two Elks and Bill Janklow….you guys are starting off on the wrong foot with me.
I am trying to finish THE UNQUIET GRAVE and it is difficult…they are in Oregon traveling with dynamite….It’s hard to read but this is not something that I can even discuss with you because you are 100 percent in support of genocide. I can’t even get James Simon to acknowledge that the government was stearilizing Indian women in the sixties. His avoidance of the topic makes me believe that he thinks that these were the right actions…that Indian women are less than human. What about you SNAPPLE….do you unconditionally support all actions by the United States???

Why are the FBI supporters so concerned about Monica Charles sex life? That really bothers me..why is that thrown around? Do you hold women to differnet standards? Is there any proof of her having sex with Dennis Banks? She says she didn’t….and if she did why bring it up like she is a whore? How many women or men have you been with??? Why aren’t the sex lives of the FBI agents under attack or investigated or commented about?

Oh and I haven’t heard of any young women being murdered at Wounded Knee….but with all I have been stuffing in my head…did I gloss over it?

MONICA CHARLES, RUNNINGWOLF AND ALT.NATIVE
This is something that I posted on alt.native. It will probably be my one and only post. I don’t want to argue with people and hope that this is not inflammatory.
After many months of reading alt.native I am submitting a comment. I do it with caution and with the utmost respect towards Runningwolf.
It is ludicrous to suggest that Monica or Guardian( I am no fan of Guardian) had anything to do with the death of Runningwolf’s husband. What and how Runningwolf chooses to vent is her own prerogative…she is in pain,grieving and in mourning. There are many people praying for her and they have only best wishes and healing thoughts for her. I think she has the support of most who have encountered her.
I have never seen any comment from Monica where she encouraged Guardian to go after Runningwolf. What I did see was Monica encouraging her to go after other people at alt.native…I will not get involved in this because there is a history much longer than I have been reading alt.native.(I have learned that lesson) Monica is not responsible for Guardian’s behavior…Guardian is. My personal feelings about Guardian is that she shows her true self by “outing” a harmless old (sorry runningwolf) woman while ignoring an abuser. Guardian for all of her proclamations about Runningwolf attacking a tribal member…who gives a shit? So do I… she doesn’t come after me though… Sal Serbin’s tribal status in no way interferes with my belief that he is wrong in disparaging and lying about Martha Alvarez….nor does Bernard Redcherries! In addition Guardian herself attacked tribal member Martha Alvarez and tribal members Shusli and Eugene Johnson. ..and offered no apologies.(It is best not to feed her and I no longer will.)
What I did see was someone pestering Monica to answer a question that Monica clearly answered by her silence. What Monica believes is not uncommon for many Indians. My own opinions differ but I am not an Indian and do not know what it feels like to be anything but a mutt. (Forgive me Monica) In private e-mails Monica has never had anything negative or derogatory to say about Runningwolf she has only expressed admiration. In fact when I e-mailed Monica to tell her that Runningwolf had come on my blog and apologized to me. Monica quickly wrote back a congratulations. Runningwolf and I have had a good many conversations and I have a developed a deep admiration and respect for her. She is a new friend and I hope that our friendship continues to grow. I speak neither for Monica or Runningwolf.
If people were inclined to kill them selves over posts there would be a lot of dead people from the hatred spread on discussion groups and chat rooms that such hate spreads across the world in a few seconds fascinates and horrifies me. (I have spread it myself and for that I am greatly apologetic. I have written extensive apologies for my own behavior on my blog and luckily put a stop to it rather quickly…although I still get carried away with the FBI)
The problems of depression, alcohol and suicide are very complex issues and some people simply cannot overcome them. Any addiction is a daily struggle..some people refuse 12 step programs, counseling and medication unable to release their pain they hold on to their pain so tightly as if the very act of loosening its grip would end their self identity. It is a hard thing to do… releasing your pain and asking for help. It fucking hurts to release pain..it kills us to hold on to it but for some reason it hurts unbearably to let it go. I release things all of the time and it hurts and hurts as it leaves…it feels good when it has finally passed away but it hurts unbearably on its way out that sometimes I keep it inside where I think I can control it. Of course this control is just an illusion. I consider myself lucky that I am able to imagine an end result and brave enough to make that journey. For many the damage is too much and for whatever reason they are unable to move through it.
Because of the controversy and arguing on alt.native I made the decision not to post…and have at times found it so toxic and myself becoming toxic that I had to ban myself from even reading it for weeks at a time. But there is also so many good people with such good advice. Monica and Runningwolf are forces to be reckoned with…they have their issues but that is between them. Their opinions run strong and deep but not so deep that they can’t change course they certainly haven’t given up on life! For those of you who think that Monica is all about racial hate you should see her facebook page and the multitudes of multiracial friends she has on it…and none of them argue! She does not mind people who disagree with her…we disagree but do it respectfully.. Well maybe if you were gungho and pro FBI she would have a problem…
Contrary to popular belief Runningwolf has been a greater influence on the ANNA MAE posts than Monica has ever been. Monica got the ball rolling but it was James Simon coming on my blog that started the posts. When Runningwolf commented that I was disrespecting a dead woman…I went back and read the posts through her eyes…and saw what she saw and changed the nature of them. Monica never says anything about the posts. Ever. Our relationship is one where like a good stereotypical colonist I ask a ton of questions invade her space and she either ignores me or replies with one sentence!! Then out of the blue will come an eloquent thought provoking e-mail. I emplore her to write more….
Jumpybird has been quite an influence just by being…his grace, respect and humble nature are what I strive for in myself and when I would get caught up on what was happening on alt.native he was the silent reminder of how I really want to be. His absence is a great loss to alt.native. That young man Basenji has the best nutrition advice…Having weight problems the last five years…he has information that makes more sense than most of the crap I have read
Richard, thank you for supporting Martha Alvarez. I have a tremendous amount of respect for my elders but the younger generation fill me with inspiration.
It has occured to me that the majority of people tearing each other apart have been the victims of abuse. I’m not sure if there is anything to that.
I am only now awakening to the History of this country. I think that one of the traits that colonizers naturally have is that we think we are right. We never automatically assume that someone else might be right. Rarely is that the first thing that pops in our heads and we want to win. At all costs. We don’t even want to try to see a problem through our enemies eyes. I see that on alt.native that the people who argue the most do not consider that there might be another way. For a few centuries colonizers have imposed our version of truth and ways on Native Americans (believe me it comes very easy) and I think that it is time to do more listening….When I listen to Monica Charles I hear some one in a lot of pain…but at the same time I hear a song from her heart loud and clear she has definite goals and works tirelessly for her tribe. There have been several references towards Monica about her being an Elder and what Elders do…it seems like another instance of projecting the white image of what an Indian Elder should be…it seems that everyone holds Monica to a higher set of standards than they do themselves. Monica doesn’t fake her emotions….there should be no surprises. As long as I have been reading Monica she has never pretended to be forgiving and loving towards whites. I can deal with that. Also there seems to be a misconception that writing paragraph after paragraph and post after post of hate and then putting a smiley emoticon at the end somehow is more honorable than Monica who comes right out and says what is on her mind in a short sentence or two…. That three pages of hate that does not use the word fuck or bitch or white butt is somehow above a few four letter words??? not in my book. And for white people to turn the screws in an Indian is probably a lot easier than the reverse….whites have had enormous power over Indians for quite sometime. I see a lot of similarities in the way the Vatican treats victims of sexual abuse by their own priests. Do we expect those victims to embrace priests that had nothing to do with the abuse??? No we are all wary of priests or should be.
On a final note why do white people allow themselves to be so disrespected? And on a native group??? Why not start a group somewhere else? Why abuse yourself? Monica does not seem interested in posting on other issues. It seems to be a colonizer issue…for all I know I will incur her wrath for posting this. But then again Monica has never shown me anything but patience…she was not the reason I stayed away from alt.native. I am not native and there was much controversy about whites.
I truly hope that no one thinks that I am being disrespectful or insulting or am out of line. And my apologies in advance for those who believe I am. I just think that I have something to say from the white point of view that isn’t being said. I don’t want to argue with anyone….I don’t like how I feel when I do.

I have been avoiding these posts because of this chapter on Bill Janklow and Jancita Eagle Deer. It’s like I want to crawl out of my skin….turn myself inside out rip my heart out. It drives me crazy.. I wish I could copy and paste this part of the story because I want it to be over…but I have to read and type because I can’t find a good version of what happened.
I wrote the above early yesterday morning and had to quit…the story of Jancita Eagle Deer is so sad and filled with despair…one of the many reasons that Joseph Trimbach and his FBI colleagues should be in jail along with some goons, Bill Janklow, probably half of the United States government…Monica probably thinks it should be more! (finally I made myself laugh this morning)
There seems to be little support or concern for Indian women…the men of AIM beat their chests and congratulate themselves….they seem to be more concerned with a power struggle and prestige…titles. Things the white government has taught. It is the same for all women…we have lost much of the ground during the eight years of the Bush administration…but in America today it seems that Indian women are so strong and the most abused and looked down upon.

Everyone has an opinion and everyone thinks that they are right. While I am reading The Unquiet Grave, I have formed no opinion on who did it. I do have a strong opinion that the FBI was grossly negligent and incompetent in their duties to American citizens.
Shusli of Spring Thunder blog who was one of the original supporters of Martha Alvarez’s right to speak against her abuser.
Mary Ann Little Bear a little girl who had her eye shot out and the FBI and BIA police couldn’t be bothered to investigate. I truly hope she is doing well now.

ANATOMY OF A THREAT/INDIAN CHIEFS
I must confess that with all of the sorid business surrounding Bernard Red Cherries; I don’t have a high opinion of Indian chiefs. I do not mean to offend anyone especially since I have all of the colonizer guilt weighing upon me. But in my opinion victims rights in any country by any color for any type of abuse by far outweighs the need to “protect” the image of an Indian chief. In fact it seem mighty white to me…sort of like how police officers always cover for one another. Not a damn Indian chief has stood up for what is right and honorable.
This fucking thing goes from Oregon to Montana to Oklahoma and as far as Florida…it involves the groups THE RED BROTHERHOOD, PORTLAND AIM, AND OKLAHOMA AIM….And the only man who has stood for victims rights is Eugene Johnson of PUDGY INDIAN2. And of course cjames who has put up THE ABUSE PAPERS who may or may not be Indian. Seriously what exactly is the point of being an Indian chief or in a group like AIM if you don’t have the courage or don’t know better than to support a young woman courageous enough to tell her story? What is the fucking point of your existence?
There is a Portuguese word for people WHO DON’T EVEN KNOW TO HAVE SHAME ON THEIR FACE!…if only I could remember it!!

than I can say about you. He is to be respected; he is a great man,

As an Indian I think Eugene is a credit to us all for bringing this
forward, it takes a lot of courage to stand against any person in
power. He and his wife Shusli are still taking the heat for this and I
appreciate and respect them greatly, it really is unfair.You talk about sacredness when you yourself drink and use drugs. I
think a person in a leadership position should set an example and put
their standards higher than anyone else’s. A Chief is a leader of his
people and a person who represents them, so if he is a drunk/addict
what does that say to world about his people. He is misrepreseneting
them. It is only because of people like you we have negative views of
our way of life. The misuse and abuse of your position. Practice what
you preach is the expression that comes to mind.So how many children do you have? How many of them are still in
contact with you? From my understanding your daughter Lori is in
Mexico, and your son Bernard Redcherries the III is in prison, and
your niece Lori Redcherries doesn’t talk to you, you know why, well
that side of the family for that fact. I know you were not even wanted
at Monica’s funeral. So why would such a great father and leader be so

So I did as Martha suggested and I ordered the book off of Amazon but being the poverty stricken person I am I bought the used copy for 1.45. Once again the book is called RENEGADE TRIBE they have more used copies still available!!! I have been wanting to read more about the real history of the state I grew up in….although it sounds like it took place more in Washington. And anyone who has a hand in getting rid of those damn dams is a hero in my book!!! But as a typical colonizer I forget there didn’t used to be states….doh!!!
It better be a good book because I broke my vow that I wouldn’t buy any more books from Amazon until I finished reading 10 more!!!

It wasn’t because I wrote a new Anna Mae post….I had to work on one of my real jobs and finished very late! Although the Anna Mae posts get a considerable amount of traffic my posts on poetry and writings continue to rise. It is amazing how people keep discovering old posts. POW WOW HIGHWAY only got one bad review on Amazon… much of the verbage is of low quality or, in other words, unnecessarily profane. While a literary argument can be made for reflecting vernacular in common use, the author’s over-indulgence in using profanity to describe the color of the car is quite unnecessary. Damn I love it already!

…Norm Zigrossi said none of his men had been at the autopsy, a nurse who helped with the autopsy told reporters that she had given Aquash’s amputated hands to Agent David Price. a BIA investigator at the autopsy, Nathan Merrick, said he”thought” two FBI agents had been there, one of whom was Price.
Dr. Brown said on one occasion that a couple of agents “may” have been at the autopsy and on another that agents had wandered in and out of the procedure. (Why lie about something that simple?)
Dr. Brown finally says that no FBI agents had been there at anytime.
It is this position that the FBI has taken before Congress and other inquirers ever since.
FBI reports released under the Freedom of Information Act would eventually prove that four agents-Price, Wood, Donald Dealing, and John Munis-were in the autopsy room, some just before and some just after the proceedure.
Price even photographed Aquash’s face.
Zigrossi had either lied or been lied to about his agent’ presence.
“….we had the pleasure of deposing David Price,” Ken Tilsen, the senior most lawyer of WKLDOC, would later say. “Price, to my mind, must be the most evil living agent in an organization that trained thousands of agents in the practice of evil. When we asked him whether he was at the autopsy, his answer was, “I wasn’t there.”
I looked for the testimony on line but could not find it basically Price says he was only outside the room and might have looked in the window.
…in 2003, Norman Zigrossi said, “I know all about the first autopsy. I’ll never froget it. now, I can tell you which of our agents were there, and that was Price and Woods”-he meant wood.
Was he saying that Price and Wood were in the room while Brown was working on Aquash?
“That’s correct.”

Final thoughts on this are that I am fucking disturbed and will never get over how people in power put themselves above the rest of the population except when it comes to accountability. They really do believe that they are above the law and if they break the laws oh well they are entitled. How dare we question them? This isn’t just the FBI its the politicians…economists….CEO’s…They see the rest of us as sub-humans. However I also feel that if we paid law enforcement more money it might attract more righteous and honest people…once again that is a broad rant. I am sure that there are plenty of people who are honest and who will do the right thing when confronted with evil and corruption. ANNA MAE AQUASH 4 OR DR. BROWN’S REASONS HE COULD NOT FIND THE CORRECT CAUSE OF DEATH
A few notes before I begin. I braved the land mines at alt.native and once again left because I was very confused. I e-mailed Monica and asked her for a list of who is who and how they are involved in the Anna Mae case. It was most helpful.

Aside from the obvious… Monica Charles. There is a man named Dave who has written a book about the murder but it has not been published for legal reasons…I’m a bit embarrassed that Dave is reading anything I write because he is also the author of several books, most notable is POW WOW HIGHWAY(I ordered a copy for 2.52 on Amazon. Which I will feel guilty about now!) which was turned into a movie. He has also written an epic poem CREATION’S MYTH ( I cannot find anywhere) which has been compared to PARADISE LOST by John Milton. More books I need to read!!!

Now for Anna Mae’s continuing saga…
Dr. W.O. Brown,….the pathologist…was unrepentant (about his inability to find the bullet in Anna Mae’s head).
“A litle bullet isn’t hard to overlook,” he said. “It certainly isn’t the first time a bullet was overlooked.” And, Why all the interest in this case? It seems awfully routine, you know. So they found an Indian body-so a body was found.” And, “I suppose the Indians will never let that woman die. AIM’s trying to stir up all the trouble they can. It’s a matter of record that Indians use every little incident that they can to create a situation over. They distort facts and use it to their advantage to further their cause. But I’ve tried to remain neutral. . I don’t think I ‘m prejudiced.”
…he had missed it only because the hospital’s X-ray machine had been broken. But he soon reversed course:
The machine was fine.
…he had merely chosen not to use it because X-rays were “too time-consuming,” “too awkward,” and “at times unsuccessful.” And anyway, since “it’s fairly common for Indians like these to die of an overdose,”…
(…Aquash’s blood was free of drugs or alcohol.)
…he had cut short his exam because the body was”stinky” and decomposed”
But from his verdict he did not swerve. It was the frost that had taken Anna Mae Aquash, not the bullet. The bullet, he said, may have pierced the brain casing, but not the brain proper. If it had entered the casing, it might have started a chain of events that incapacitated Aquash and left her at the mercy of the cold, but the shot did not kill her.
So basically this guy missed….
the stained sheet under her head…
her gunpowdered and bloodied hair…
the hole through several layers of bone….
(including the brain, through which the bullet had in fact passed and which Brown had removed and examined before dumping it in Aquash’s chest with the other dissected organs). I don’t get this part is Hendricks saying that Brown did find the bullet or is Brown claiming that he did see it but was lying???
And finally the bullet itself.
Among other “errors” in the autopsy, he claimed to have dissected and measured Aquash’s stomach, one of her kidneys, and her adrenal glands, but Dr. Peterson found all of these organs were attached, unopened, and with the metrics quite different from Brown’s.
….Dr Brown reported that Aquash had not been raped and had been dead no more than 10 days, Peterson concluded that rape could not be ruled out and Aquash could hav been killed weeks, even months, before she was found.

You bring up a lot of generalizations that really don’t get us anywhere, you know, the old “they all do it so I’m absolved of needing to educate myself any further” or else presenting a laundry list of personal expectations that cannot possibly be met, e.g., “until every CEO…” which again excuses a knowledge deficit. Well, in the event you are as open-minded as you say you are, you will have to spend more than a penny. Start by visiting (for free) the Trimbach’s web site, americanindianmafia.com. There you will find a video that tends to render your description of the Aquash murder investigation as more than suspect. If you only knew how federal investigators have agonized over this case for years, while the perpetrators have been able to convince people like you to suspect just about anyone but the aiders and abettors in this premeditated murder of an innocent woman (John Trudell comes to mind.) The fact is many people in AIM were co-conspirators in Anna Mae’s murder at precisely the same time federal agents were trying apprehend these people. I can assure you, for instance, that Anna Mae’s daughters (whom you must admit know more about this case than you do) would describe your arguments as specious and irrelevant. I’d really like to know what your source is for the claim, “The FBI used tactics that would ensure paranoia and division among AIM leaders.” This tells me you have succumbed to AIM propaganda and the same old historical equivocations that enabled the old guard leadership to fool so many, beginning with Robert Redford, Peter Matthiessen, and many well-intentioned people who really don’t know what they’re talking about. I agree with you, it is an uphill battle, but one worth fighting in the interest of truth and justice. I have yet to meet one person who has read Trimbach’s book and has not come away with the honest conclusion that there was much more to the story than they ever knew. In other words, they acknowledge that people who impose criteria as a prerequisite to considering other points of view, the evidence, etc., represent the same type of lock-step thinking they claim to abhor. I certainly hope you weren’t born last Thursday but I suppose I am just as skeptical of your willingness to consider what others have to say as you seem to be of law enforcement. Unfortunately that is the natural repercussion when those who have sworn to uphold the laws of the United States are the very people who desecrate them. I readily admit I KNOW NEXT TO NOTHING about this case. I am in the learning stages. What I need is information I have had two previous commenters suggest books which I have purchased off of Amazon for less than five dollars each. (I would suggest that you DO NOT make light of my bank account. I live well below the poverty level and manage to pay my bills without the help of the government.) When I am done with those if I can find the book you suggest for a reasonable price I promise I will read it.
You stated that the FBI investigators agonized over this case. How do you arrive at this conclusion? Are you an investigator on this case? You posted this on my invitation to Monica Charles who has also agonized over the death of her friend and I have asked her to write a more personal account. She is working on it. What does this case mean to you? Personally? Did you know Anna Mae Aquash? It would be a very good start for a dialogue.
The facts will come eventually and ultimately there will be a judge that decides what will be admissible in a court of law. I do not envy the jury!

It lacks fairness, integrity and removes human dignity from those who suffered the most during this time, namely, the Native American Indian people. I have been thinking about this since she asked the question. A year ago I would have said of course! Then I was listening to Mark Thompson on Sirius Left.He was in a heated discussion with a white caller who was complaining that blacks were racist against whites. Mark Thompson kept repeating that there could not be racism towards white people because racism implies power and white people have the power. My brain was protesting along with the white caller..but…but….but….
I thought about that, argued in my head, twisted and turned it around and around. Mark Thompson went on to say that there are other words to describe how blacks feel towards whites…prejudice…hatred…
But not racism. Not in the United States anyway. Whites have the power in the United States. Yes we have elected a president who is half black and I am very proud enough people in the United States are coming over their racist feelings. What a way to say fuck you to those Europeans who claim to be appalled at the racism that still exists in the U.S. Do you see them electing a person named Barack Hussein Obama???? HELL NO!! Maybe the fine readers of my blog can think of a few more.
Monica Charles has posed some very interesting and challenging questions on alt.native and DAUGHTER TSE WHIT ZEN. This post has been mulling around in my head for a few days….I intended to answer a question of what the hell white people are thinking when they desecrate burial grounds that she wrote on her blog (that’s not quite how she put it). It will have to wait because this has been on my mind a lot.
As I reported earlier there is an ongoing battle at alt.native over who is racist. Of course since there are relatively few commenters it is hard to figure out if it is Monica Charles versus the other 360 subscribers. Or Monica Charles versus 2 or 3 people.
When I read comments about my posts they were positive but certain people were projecting their problems with Monica onto me. I replied in what I felt was the most non-offensive way possible and those people did not seem to get what I was saying and continued to project their issues with Monica on me. It was almost because I like Monica they couldn’t wait until Monica “turned” on me. At that time I did a much closer look at alt.native to see if I was missing something in my three week relationship with Monica…I always consider that I might be wrong…..there was nothing. Except when I wrote about this once again with as much non-offensive language I could muster, people became very upset. I was even called Monica’s shill (a carnival operator who pretends to buy or bet). I can’t remember when the last time I was a guest in someones house that I have been treated with such bad manners and contempt. I can assure you no one from alt.native or anywhere else would would have EVER been treated with such little respect on my blog. It seems that you are only welcome at alt.native if you do not like Monica Charles. You will be attacked if you do not join the I hate Monica Charles bandwagon. Actually I didn’t even join that is how guests are treated…imagine if I joined!!!
I was writing about MY experiences since I became aware of alt.native. And as I stated NO ONE on alt.native needs to worry about my relationship with Monica Charles is NOT GOD. I stand by my opinions and would be proud to call her my friend.
Some people have imposed their IMAGINATION on what I write about. What I choose to write about is decided by ME and ME ALONE. End of story.
But lets get to the racist issues on alt.native.
I cringe when I read the comments by Monica and the others who engage in the same activities. AND OTHERS ARE ENGAGING IN RACIST ACTIVITY.
Why am I able to cut Monica more of a break?? Because what little I do know of Indian affairs leads me to believe that whites have a lot of accounting for.
Consider that Monica is at the very least in her late 50′s. She is an Indian woman. I remember a story relayed by a black woman lamenting that even black men would choose to be anything other than a black woman. Rest assured that the only thing in this country “lower” to white Americans than a black woman by my deduction is an Indian woman. When a white person befriends an Indian it is usually with some fantasy image that whites have about Indians. Has Sherman Alexie has ever written a book that didn’t touch on this subject? Except for his latest novels for youth?
According to Monica’s website 3 of every 4 Indian women are sexually abused during their life.
White people slaughtered probably close to a million Indians.
White people broke almost every treaty.
White people still in 2009 do not honor their treaties or their mineral rights contracts which sit rotting in a warehouse.
Between the years 1970 and 1977 between 192,000 and 548,000 Indian women were ILLEGALLY sterilized EACH year. Was there any 200 million dollar class action suites over that?
White people forced Indian people to live on reservations.
White people forced Indian children to go to boarding schools.
Monica laments the disruption of Indian burial grounds.
Never mind her involvement with AIM!!!
Never mind the FBI’s policy towards Indians.
Is that enough for people to consider.
Yes I think that she is pissed off, angry, hurt. White people have a lot to account for!!
I cannot imagine what Monica is going through or has gone through as an Indian woman. I guarantee I have had a much easier life. But there was a very bad period when a bunch of childhood crap surfaced and my sister described me as a walking scab that was unable to heal…but years of shrinks later I’m fine for the most part.
And Monica doesn’t act like a victim…maybe if she did people would cut her more slack
Remember that part in the bible about sins of the father being revisited on the sons for seven generation.

Apparently none of them have ever met a Jewish person, angry about the NAZI holocaust my guess is that if Monica was the wounded Jewish man that survived the holocaust lashing out at Germans (or American students in my case). You would be a little more understanding. Is Monica able to confront the exact white person responsible for the atrocities in her life??? No!
We are all horrified when the Vatican ignores the victims of sexual abuse by priests. Those people too need to be heard to vent to rant…it is all a part of the healing process. A big part. Anyone who thinks that Monica is the only Indian woman pissed off at white people…hurry up I have some stars for sale!
White people will bear the brunt of the healing process in the healing of all peoples we have harmed. Did I personally commit an atrocity towards an Indian. No, but I am well aware that I will suffer the consequences of my parents actions…every vote they cast against the Indians, children, healthcare, workers, minorities, the environment. As all generations from here on out will suffer.
What astounds me is the power Monica has of over 300 people on alt.net. The people who complain about her the most engage in EXACTLY the same behavior they pretend to condemn.
Monica drove over 300 people away from alt.native. These people could not recognize the signs of someone in obvious distress and pain? They couldn’t just…ignore her anger for white people and carry on??? Recognize the good service she does at alt.native??? They would slit your wrists if they met my ex sister in law she makes Monica look like Mother Theresa. Still I have never said an unkind word towards her and still send her Christmas cards.
No it doesn’t make me a better person than she is. She has her own tragic reasons for being who she is. We all take different paths at different times.
Finally they are choosing to rebuild alt.native because that awful Monica ruined everything. Twisted their arms.
What Monica actually gave them was a mirror and they saw themselves….
Blame her now because they didn’t like what they saw!
One of the exceptions is a man called Jumpybird (not sure what that is) who seems to be very thoughtful he made a comment that no one wants to talk to him..probably because he seems to stay away from drama, and he never talks bad about anyone.
Monica provides a wonderful service to those of us who are interested in learning about a segment of the population who we seem to disregard. I would never be able to sort through the news to find the articles she posts. My book marks have jumped from about 45 to 100!!
Her dedication towards her slain friend Anna Mae Aquash is…I can’t think of a fitting word. How many of us could say that we have someone in our lives who would be willing to fight so long and so hard for us?
Monica deserves all of my admiration and respect regardless if she “turns” on me after reading this. I am in awe of her she reminds me of the Godess Kali in all of her rage and glory. I am a much better person after knowing her for only a month. She is one of those people for whom I will always have gratitude for.
ALT.NATIVE AND MONICA CHARLES
For those of you who are wondering about the content of some of my posts you need to go to Alt.Native especially if I mention Monica Charles.
Google Alt.Native has a description that says PEOPLE INDIGENOUS TO AN AREA BEFORE MODERN COLINISATION(yes it is misspelled on alt.native). I do not post anything there BECAUSE I AM NOT AN INDIAN…and I have my own blog but I am flattered that some of my posts are discussed over there. This is because Monica Charles posts my blog there on occasion.
Certain people seem to be concerned about my well being that Monica Charles is using me and that somehow I will be mortally wounded. I have written two post refuting this…..but apparently I am speaking in a foreign tongue.
I did hear these peoples concerns but they did not ring true to my experiences with Monica. She has never tried to influence me and has shown me nothing but extraordinary patience and kindness….even today I had to apologize to her for an e-mail I had sent days ago. My arrogance knows no boundaries!!! She actually did what I have seen many of my Hispanic and Muslim friends do….nothing!! Which to me is more embarrassing than correcting me at the time. Hispanics actually consider me to be Hispanic but they all recognize the self-centeredness that is pervasive to one raised in a white environment! What strikes me is the ability of such people to ignore my faults!!! They are many….But I swear if someone brings one of my many flaws to my attention I seriously consider it…it might take me a few days.
But something doesn’t seem right on Alt.Native and because people think my experience with Monica Charles is wrong I decided to do a closer look at Alt.native. and this is what I have found.

There have been 190 posts up for discussion.
Monica has submitted 95 of these posts for discussion. 92 of these posts have been from another source and are concerned with issues that are or should be of interest to the indigenous population. The other 3 were personal and in a response to an arguement on a previous post. I think I forgot to count the post which concerned the announcement that she has started Alt.Colinization…that was the funniest thing I had heard all week..I have been sick for so long I was in fear of losing my good sense of humor and that had me rolling on my floor!!!!

All I can see is that Monica has a passion for getting the truth out about Indian affairs. She has put up multitudes of good informative posts day after day….from Indian school abuse, environment, Anna Mae Aquash’s murder, religion…it goes on and on..it overwhelms me.
Then I randomly selected posts by others to see if Monica responded on them and in just about every case her comments were respectful. The few instances were those posts that were inflamatory. As for her accusers??? I’m sorry but the majority of times they are in a discussion on Alt.Native it isn’t to further Native American causes but to engage in inflammatory discussions.
I have to base my findings on my experiences and on the facts I see in front of me. And what I see is that Monica Charles works tirelessly. And probably for no pay. Much of the population works on the computer. It is the preferred method for communication these days.
As for white people posting on Alt.Native has there ever been a vote?? I just wouldn’t do it personally because it may be unwelcome….rude…inconsiderate….kind of like posting one of my whiskey reviews on an AA site. I don’t know the history of Alt.Native but if I was so inclined to post Iwould start with a request to post….asking permission first.
Having said that I do think that there is a place and a need for dialogue between Indians and…the rest of America.
