FREDERIC REMINGTON
These are some “lesser” Frederic Remington paintings. It is interesting to see the unfinished ones…
WHITNEY GALLERY AT THE BUFFALO BILL HISTORICAL CENTER
Apologies for the blurry photos recently I got a new camera yesterday so I should be in focus going forward…the lens not only has a cover but inset a little deeper to avoid the numerous scratches my old camera has suffered! Its funny I took a photo of snow and a cloudy sky. A LOT of white and while I previously thought I had four scratches on my lens it was nine!!! My cameras take a beating!!!
Another set of guest descriptions for the artwork above.
I love this quiet little painting.
This is a replica of Charles M. Russel’s art studio
WHITNEY GALLERY AT BUFFALO BILL HISTORICAL CENTER 3
The frame that surrounds this giant painting is a work of art by itself! The linen on the frame is painted with all of these horses…
unfortunately the spotlights are aimed at the interesting characters in the painting ideal for viewing but not photographing! That is Custer below…
This is downright painful to look at!!
WHITNEY GALLERY AT BUFFALO BILL HISTORICAL CENTER 2
this was entertaining. The gallery put up a couple of interactive displays. This one has people write their own labels for a particular piece of art, in this case the painting above. I went through and photographed the most interesting responses.
From a distance this looked like a photograph. I’m not overly fond of art that mimics real life. I like to see character in artwork.
this is just a close up and not the entire painting.
My brother has been dreaming of New Mexico so I included this.
Another close up….I liked the squareness of the horses head
WHITNEY GALLERY AT BUFFALO BILL HISTORICAL CENTER
It was raining and windy last time I visited Cody so I headed for the BBHC for a few hours.
detail of the automobiles
As I said before this is a beautiful museum. The next exhibit I will visit will be the firearms.
I didn’t really like this next painting but part of art is the negative reaction…might be those big teeth on the grizzlies! I didn’t photograph the whole painting just the grizzly detail. Its a big painting!
I loved this little painting.
Of course I love the buffalo!
ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY AT BUFFALO BILL HISTORICAL CENTER
I wish they had the dimensions of these….wall size!
YEP! I’ll even take photos of photographs!
MUSEUM AT LITTLE BIGHORN BATTLEFIELD
Oy! Isn’t this what they said about Iraq?
the next few photos are of a diorama…
BUFFALO, WYOMING 1
As I was leaving Oregon I added Elvis to my dashboard Buddha was getting lonely. They have both been keeping me entertained! Or maybe its the other way around.
Only in Wyoming would you find a chain of gas stations called SMOKER FRIENDLY!
In Buffalo even the grocery store has buffalo on the sign. Every store sells buffalo merchandise for tourists.
very courteous they are!
They have a great “old town” section which I promptly walked up one side and down the other…
I was quite hungry and thought I would stop in here for coffee and a bite to eat…but the cowgirl running the place was suffering from what appeared to be MAD COW DISEASE frothin’ at the mouth and such so I promptly turned around looking for friendly feeding grounds!
A little mural painted on the bottom of a door…
What would a western town be without some western sculptures?
A charming little church….
more to come…
MONTANA REDUX….the drawings
quite a love affair with the buffalo but I managed to draw a few other things….but mostly buffalo…
DOWNTOWN MEDFORD part1
Because I am always off on bigger and better adventures and running downtown is not conducive to keeping my knees and feet free from injury; I don’t often make it to “downtown Medford” or “Historic” downtown Medford as the signs say…but then this library is pretty new! I think they are referring to the next block….
it is a beautiful library but not without its share of controversy that ended up in the national news when voters voted not to fund it with higher property taxes(long story).
This used to be Mellelo Coffee…now its….
GOTTA love the name and what they did with it!! Anyway here is a post about The GOAT
If I have seen this before I don’t remember it….love funny signs
Medford City Hall looks fairly modern too!
lots of flowers basking in the sun!
And this interesting sculpture…with no info around…
LIZZY’S ART
This new and improved site still needs some work but is mostly done. This site is just a collection of my art in one place…it will be updated infrequently so I would suggest that if you are really interested in any new art work that you subscribe….while I need to photograph some work that is not currently on the blog….I predict it will be at least another month or two before any new project is completed. Of course I will also post anything new on ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST which in turn automatically posts to facebook.
I used to become frustrated with bloggers and website curators who didn’t keep up….now I have great sympathy!! Its a constant trial to keep up with links….old information….new information. Just being organized. But slowly I am getting there…Everything is ALWAYS in a constant state of refining….
Next I am working on….
This site is a mere skeleton and has no galleries up yet….it will be a best of site while I put up lots of bad photos on ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST for the sake of a story…this will eliminate the good bad and the ugly and those viewing will only be subjected to the BEST. Of course THAT will need to be refined constantly…..what I thought was good two years ago in some cases I think is terrible now. As I get better I recognize all of the bad in my photos! I intend for the front page to act as a photo of the day…and I encourage people to copy the photos for desk top backgrounds….use on blogs….as long as you are not profiting from my hard work!! Of course giving me credit is much appreciated! Permission for any other use is required from ME!
TOTEM POLES
The thing about photographing totem poles is that the sun has to be in just the right spot…see the rest at STELLAR HEALING.
LIZZY’S NEW ART SITE
It still needs A LOT of work but I think it is actually almost to the halfway point…but I could be having an overly optimistic morning!!!
ART, PHOTOGRAPHY, QUILTS BY LIZZY the quilts aren’t up yet either….
BODIE
Bodie is an old mining ghost town in the California Sierras…I loved it and it has been the inspiration for a few paintings
SCHOOL ART AT THE MALL
I had to be in the local mall last night, and they had an exhibition of artists 1st through 12th grade…in my opinion no gallery or museum can rival the vision and talent of youth! I cropped the photos so the names and schools of the kids were not shown in some cases it took out a chunk from the art….
Spidy!!!
This is distorted because it was up high…lovely portrait!! I wonder if it was of Self?
I have drawn Buddha in this fashion before…not this good though!!!
Now this is very interesting and I am quite sorry the focus was off….hell breaking loose because this is a senior in high school about to down a margarita??? The pink comfortable chair…with a demon lurking in the shadows…interesting story being told here…why is the chair empty?
Someone was having a good day!!
If only that were true for the rest of us!!
Another great portrait…these kids are quite talented!!
Quite a pirate ship sailing into the sunset
Surely this must be along the Oregon Trail!!
And how great is this sun!!!!
in the garden….interesting colors
I have seen many versions of this driving home at sunset the black trees against layers of mountains…awesome!
Serengeti in Southern Oregon…
Hmmm its a good thing that is a mouse and not a Sparrow…
This bear won a blue ribbon…
TRACKING SUNSHINE
It has been so depressing in Medford I took my brother on a hunt to find some sunshine!!! This oppressive, depressing fog as been here for days and days and never lifts….it feels like living in some Stephen King horror book…..I’ll bet there are blue skies in Montana!!!
This photo was not taken at night but around 10 or 11….
Finally on the other side of the Siskiyous….at a rest stop along Klamath River….blue skies!!!!! I haven’t seen one in days!!!!! That is my brother heading for my little Toyota Echo!
Off to my favorite coffee stop in Mt. Shasta city…… as you can see the sky isn’t very blue…..but at least you can see 10 feet in front of you!
the windows are decorated for the holiday season!!
This is the main tourist shopping street..it is cuter than the photograph shows! They have both a used and new bookstore…an awesome “New Age” store called SOUL CONNECTIONS who actually carry decent incense that aren’t overpriced like Ashland….there are art galleries, clothing stores, kitchen stores and of course a couple of outdoor stores for the skiers and mountain climbers on Mt. Shasta.
Mt. Shasta looming over the city….
Yes Mt. Shasta has pure water!!! but don’t tell NESTLE…..
There really isn’t much snow on the mountain so far…enough to ski but for the farmers and ranchers this summer??? the area is already devastated by drought…pray for snow!!!
More windows ….
this is one of my favorite art galleries….mostly western art and now the owner has started making furniture….I love the rustic look!
We got lunch from a burger joint that had old signs posted on the walls…I love SMOKEY THE BEAR!!!
A snow storm was moving in as we were leaving….
This was a parting shot of Mt. Shasta….not much to see as the clouds moved in….funny thing but I have never been on Mt. Shasta…not once…I have hiked all around it and used to come here every month for work….I’ll write another post about that soon.
Well at least I got to see a bit of blue sky yesterday!!!
CHRISTMAS AT STEVE AND CHRISTINA’S
I had Christmas dinner at my brother and his girlfriends place. (the corn casserole was awesome!)
Here is the Christmas tree…nice and traditional
Here is my brother eating Christmas dinner standing up! Like me there is no dining room table or it is being used as storage!!!
Christina is a collector of unique art and she has many pieces on her walls!!
And here is their dog Cooper….finally napping after his doggy treats….
the end!
A BUNNYFLY!!!
My friend Shel when I first “met” her on the internet told me about a project she was working on …embroidering pillowcases for her niece. I think they were stage coaches on the Oregon Trail. I expressed my admiration and shared my memory of the pillowcases my Grandmother used to embroider when I was little. Little deer…flowers….all sorts of pretties! But when I got a manila envelope in the mail I was quite surprised when I found this!! Which Shell designed on her own. It is quite precious and I immediately put it on my favorite feather pillow!!!
I have never seen a BUNNYFLY on my hiking excursions….but I shall keep my eye out for the cute little critters from now on!!
IF MONICA COULD EXPRESS HER RAGE AND HURT IN ART (REVISED)
UPDATE: I found the picture of the teepee hanging from the ceiling hard to imagine it with the closeups I took…but would not have the effect without the closeups either…of course it would be better if you could see it in person!!)
She would be celebrated in museums and galleries…white people would flock to witness and then purchase her emotions…they would eat canapes and little petit fours while sipping wine and making witty comments….
This is Rez Art in the art museum in Helena, Montana….not a single bit of it was happy and joyous….

Ouch!!! this one was particularly moving to me….all about the land that once belonged to the American Indians…I will never view a real estate guide through the same eyes again.

Manny tribal lands were represented on these maps….I wish I had taken more photos! The creativeness is amazing!

I must have forgotten to take an overview of this work of art it was a plastic teepee hanging from the ceiling. The artist had done charcoal sketches put them between clear plastic and sewn it into a teepee.

BUTTE ALLEYS AND A FEW ADS
Art by nail gun on a lightpole in an alley I wonder if someone added the whiskers later?? Must be a pole cat!!

Not sure what the purpose of putting that lock there….so people like me would wonder??

I wonder what what was graded how many boxes could be stacked up?? I love stuff like this! It could just be a balcony with a door but this is far more interesting.

Just in case…
